Job Description
Fleet Projects Project Manager- projects PM, you will primarily be working on Digital Modernization related Projects. The Digital Modernization Program is a complex effort to upgrade and standardize the SNC fleet to a modern digital control infrastructure. With numerous projects being implemented across the fleet there will be a need for coordination between operations and alignment in our technical implementation.
Responsibilities:
- Project Management– This position will be required to obtain a PMP and perform as a project manager.
- Establishing and maintaining a safe, positive, and inclusive work culture.
- Management and oversite of onsite resources and daily activities in support of successful scope development, implementation, and project closeout phases of digital projects at Vogtle (and other site projects as necessary), using the established Project procedures and measured by achieving required project performance in safety, quality, schedule, cost, scope, and risk.
- Provide input into contracting strategy and help establish and track performance against baseline schedule and budget.
- Provide input and recommendation for field resource requirements for construction.
- Overall management of onsite contractors and administration of their contracts using appropriate field resources.
- Assist administrative and construction staff in managing all change management functions.
- Assist in the development and dissemination of critical project statistical information (i.e. material quantities installed, man hours worked, early v. late start, budget analysis, etc.)
- Assist in the development of bid packages, conduct pre-bid meetings and evaluate bids.
- Analyze problems for solutions and coordinate corrective action with designers, vendors and the Contractor.
- Building effective working relationships with the Operating Company and other entities involved with the Project.
- Vendor and AE Oversight – This position will be required to ensure that the vendor and AE are meeting the needs and standards set forth by SNC. This position supports all Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), Software Integrated Loop Testing (SWIL), and Verification and Validation (V&V) required to support the various Digital Program Projects or obtains the appropriate technical expertise to support.
- These key functions of this individual, however additional workload outside of these key areas may also be assigned based on the Program needs and Individuals current workload.
Requirements
- 4 or more years experience in nuclear plant
- Demonstrated leadership, preferably at the supervisor level or above, along with excellent oral and written skills.
- Solid analytical and strategic thinking with an understanding of our business combined with seasoned judgment resulting in the ability to make wise decisions after considering risk and opportunity.
- Ability to interface with key stakeholder, vendors, and contractors while representing the best interests of Southern Company.
Preferred Experience (Not required)
- 2 or more years’ experience in nuclear plant I&C or Operations (e.g., Nuclear Navy or commercial power plant).
- 3 or more years’ experience with digital control system design and/or operation.
- Understanding in control system platforms (ABB, Emerson Ovation, Westinghouse, Foxboro, Bailey, Honeywell, Metso, Allen Bradley, GE PLC/PAC, Siemens, GE turbine, Toshiba Turbine, Siemens turbine)
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related field

- The selected candidate will be required to obtain U.S. Nuclear Power Plant Unescorted Access.
- In order to obtain unescorted access, the selected candidate will be required to complete a Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ).
