Summary:

The Director of Decision Support & Strategic Planning develops, coordinates, and oversees the preparation of budgets, financial statements, statistical reports, cost analyses, and other financial information. This role performs complex and specialized assignments, leads large-scale projects, and promotes sound financial decision-making across assigned areas. Additionally, the director prioritizes, plans, organizes, and directs the overall operations of the Planning Department in alignment with federal, state, and local standards, industry guidelines, and organizational goals. Working closely with strategically related departments, this position ensures high-quality outcomes, regulatory compliance, and strong team member engagement while supervising employees within decision support and planning functions.


Responsibilities:

·Oversees Decision Support functions and employees, ensuring exceptional quality, service, and training. Leads with integrity and promotes compliance with confidentiality, security policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.

·Develops and analyzes profitability reports for assigned areas using financial systems. Interprets budget variances, recommends corrective actions, and leads financial discussions in departmental meetings. Prepares monthly financials, journal entries, and supports month-end processes in collaboration with Finance leadership. Trains team members on financial systems and processes.

·Leads development of operating and capital budgets, including capital pro-formas and assumptions for new services and projects. Updates 5-year capital and operating plans, ensuring efficient resource utilization. Provides education on budget tools and concepts.

·Develops and refines the organization’s strategic plan, identifying and assessing initiatives to achieve long-term goals. Leads implementation of strategic initiatives, monitors progress, and adjusts as needed. Directs development of business plans and performance improvement strategies.

·Conducts in-depth market research, competitor analysis, and identifies new opportunities for growth. Coordinates business profile research and evaluates trends to inform strategic decisions.

·Effectively communicates strategic plans and financial insights to senior leadership, department leaders, and stakeholders. Works closely with operational leaders to align financial and strategic objectives.

·Demonstrates commitment to continuing education in healthcare finance and operations. Assists with regulatory surveys and ensures compliance with federal, state, and accrediting body requirements.

Qualifications

Required

·Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Management or closely related field

·Five (5) years’ experience working in finance, preferably in healthcare. 

·Excellent verbal and written communication.

Preferred

·Masters Degree in Business or Health Administration

·Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) as issued by the Healthcare Financial Management Association

·Certified Management Accountant status

·Certified Public Accountant status
