Job Summary

The Director of Franchise Development will oversee the entire franchise sales process, including lead management, candidate recruitment, and the signing of both single-unit franchise agreements and multi-unit area development agreements. This individual will be responsible for driving the brand’s growth strategy by sourcing, qualifying, and developing strong relationships with prospective franchisees. The ideal candidate will be an experienced franchise sales professional with a proven track record in managing the sales process for emerging franchise brands in the QSR and/or fast-casual dining space.

This role offers the opportunity to lead the expansion of a dynamic brand, focusing primarily on domestic growth, while ensuring the franchisees recruited align with the company’s core values and operational excellence standards as well as meet the minimum qualification requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and execute the franchise sales strategy, driving recruitment efforts for both single-unit and multi-unit franchisees.
  • Manage the entire franchise lead pipeline from sourcing, lead generation, and qualification to negotiating and signing franchise agreements (and area development agreements).
  • Engage with potential franchisees, evaluating their financial capacity and operational experience to determine fit with the brand.
  • Present the franchise opportunity to candidates through various formats (in-person, webinars, trade shows).
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure proper franchise disclosure documentation (FDD) and adherence to regulatory guidelines.
  • Track and report key metrics, including lead conversion rates, franchise recruitment progress, and sales targets.
  • Utilize CRM tool to manage leads and track communication across the sales funnel.
  • Work closely with the marketing agency to develop and execute franchise marketing campaigns.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador at industry events, franchise expos, and other networking opportunities to promote the brand.

Skills & Abilities

  • Proven success in franchise sales or business development, preferably within the QSR or fast-casual dining industry.
  • Strong understanding of the franchise sales process, from lead generation to closing deals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deliver compelling presentations.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and influence prospective franchisees.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple leads and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and CRM software. Understanding of location intelligence and site selection analytics software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of franchise disclosure and regulatory compliance.

Travel Requirements

  • Frequent travel is required to meet with prospective franchisees, attend industry events, and support franchise development initiatives, approximately 40-60% travel.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Certified Franchise Executive (“CFE”) credential holder (or in progress of obtaining certification)

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Sales, or a related field.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in franchise development or sales, with a focus on QSR or fast-casual restaurant brands.
