Director, Sales Venue

Job Description

The Team

We are seeking a Director Venue Sales to join American Tower’s Sales organization. The Managed Networks team is responsible for building, owning, and managing state-of-the-art venue-based indoor and outdoor telecommunications infrastructure that improves the experience of occupants and visitors at those facilities by improving our customers’ network performance. Day to day you will prospect and engage with executives and decision makers for large, highly trafficked venues that are ideal for neutral host communications infrastructure. You will partner cross-functionally to identify and deliver qualifying properties, driving success with external customers by negotiating and closing lease transactions that allow the Company to install and operate multi-tenant-capable communications infrastructure for the benefit of the property, the Company, and its customers.

What You Can Offer Us

  • Cultivate and maintain multi-stakeholder relationships at targeted, top-tier large public venues for the exclusive rights to neutral-host communications infrastructure. These relationships include but are not limited to Chief Information Officers (CIO), Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), and other key executives.   
  • Coordinate with internal partners in US Tower’s sales leadership team, Legal, Engineering, Finance, and Operations to optimize lease terms according to defined metrics.   
  • Liaise with external Advisors who have pre-existing relationships with executives at the targeted venues to strengthen relationships amongst a highly competitive sales landscape    
  • Successfully negotiate property lease and/or site license agreements at qualifying properties over the course of a sales cycle that may last 6-18 months.
  • Simultaneously generate new relationships at venues whose existing DAS contracts expire in the next 2-5 years.   
  • Other duties as assigned.   

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferable in Real Estate, Business, or a technical discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years of real estate, telecommunications, or related experience required.

  • Experience managing large customer accounts with multiple executive-level stakeholders required. 
  • Proven experience securing real estate rights at premier properties preferred.
  • Advanced commercial and deal making skills required.
  • Ability to read, understand, and negotiate complex commercial leasing provisions required.
  • Persistent and consistent self-starting problem-solver with sound judgement and the ability to navigate a dynamic sales cycle and “drive” evolving transactions to successful closure in a competitive market environment.
  • Knowledge of in-building wireless networks and knowledge of current and future technology directions for in-building networking preferred.
  • Proven track record of exceeding quota in a sales or business development role required.
  • Approximately 50% travel may be required in support of the position’s responsibilities.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate with, assist, and garner support from various geographically diverse stakeholder groups and levels of management to effectively and professionally achieve results.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment.

For U.S.-based candidates only, the base salary range for this position is $125,000 - $160,000 annually, with eligibility for annual bonus, and annual equity award and participation in the Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP). For candidates outside of the U.S., salary and benefits are based upon local market practice.
