Summary:
The DME Service Technician serves a critical role in providing durable medical equipment (DME) & supplies to the patients served by Down East Medical Supply. The DME Service Technician delivers sets-up and provides education on the safe use of DME and supplies that meet the needs of our patients that allows them to remain safely in their homes.


Responsibilities:
Physicians, patients and customers are served by providing quality durable medical equipment and supplies in a timely manner. Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of Down East Medical Supply and UNC Lenoir Health Care.

Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Possess at a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent. Prefer a one-year certificate from a college or technical school; or twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
Previous experience within the home medical equipment field, or prior delivery experience with a good driving record and a valid North Carolina driver's license.

LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION
None Required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
Mechanical ability is required for general maintenance and repair. Verbal ability is required to effectively communicate with co-workers and patients/customers.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
May be exposed to blood borne pathogens or TB requiring the use of protective equipment. Exposed to extreme temperature changes and irregular hours.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, reach with arms and hands, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move loads which exceed 125 pounds.
