As a Heavy Vehicle Driver, you will safely transport tooling, material, and hardware between approved on-site and off-site locations. This role is ideal for professional commercial drivers who take pride in safety, reliability, and high-quality performance while supporting critical DoD programs.
Currently hiring for a C Shift position Fri-Sun (0600-1800) 3/12s
Position Summary:
• Operate commercial vehicles and equipment, including: Passenger truck/trailer combinations; Cargo vans and material-handling vehicles; Vehicles 10,001 lbs GVWR or greater; Truck/trailer combinations up to and above 26,001 lbs GVWR
• Ensure all company and government assets are transported safely and securely
• Perform proper load securement in accordance with DOT, FMCSA, and Company regulations
• Organize and plan load efficiency
• Complete vehicle inspections, documentation, and safety protocols with first-pass quality
This position may be filled as a Level 2 or Level 3 based on the qualifications outlined below.
Basic Qualifications:
Heavy Driver Level 2:
• High School Diploma
• 2+ years of heavy driving experience
• Valid Class A CDL
• Valid HazMat Endorsement
• Clean MVR (no violations in past 12 months). Must be less than 30 days old from day of request
• Meets all DOT pre-employment requirements (FMCSA Clearinghouse)
• Ability to obtain DOD Secret Clearance
Heavy Driver Level 3:
• High School Diploma
• 4+ years of heavy driving experience
• Valid Class A CDL
• HazMat Endorsement
• Clean MVR (no violations in past 12 months). Must be less than 30 days old from day of request
• Meets all DOT pre-employment requirements (FMCSA Clearinghouse)
• Ability to obtain DOD Secret Clearance
Preferred Requirements:
• Active DOD Secret Clearance with investigation completed in the last 5 years
• 8+ years heavy driving experience
• Experience operating vehicles 26,001+ GVWR or equivalent heavy equipment
• Strong knowledge of FMCSA, FMSR, and 49 CFR regulations
• Familiarity with DVIRs (Daily Vehicle Inspection Report)
• Active Class A CDL with HazMat and Passenger Endorsements
• Aerospace or secure facility driving experience
• Oversize load, pilot/escort vehicle background (license preferred)
• Comfortable using mobile devices (iPad) and basic computer programs
• Ability to read and follow specialized tie-down and load-handling instructions
Primary Level Salary Range: $48,400.00 - $80,600.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $57,500.00 - $95,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
