Join our Toyota Material Handling Team as an EHS Engineer

The Role:

We’re seeking a passionate and dedicated EHS Engineer who brings decisiveness, strong decision-making, and expertise to the table. In this role, you will implement and maintain established manufacturing safety programs to ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety laws, regulations, and standards to drive the overall Toyota safety culture. What You’ll Be Doing:

·        Under general supervision, assists in monitoring and coordinating health and safety programs, including safety inspections, accident investigations, and safety training.

·        Promote employee health and safety by implementing procedures, metrics, campaigns, and programs to prevent occupational injuries and illnesses and enhance the overall site safety culture, resulting in management engagement, employee involvement, and the reduction in unsafe conditions and behaviors.

·        Have an understanding of problem-solving and safety improvement tools and techniques.

·        Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures. Ensures timely reporting and investigations into all work-related incidents and ensures corrective action has been identified and implemented.

·        Compile and analyze statistical data on occupational illnesses and accidents.

·        Evaluate machinery, equipment, and their usage for safety and related risk.

·        Prepare and deliver training on safety procedures, laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and the use of safety equipment.

·        Inspects and audits facilities for potential safety concerns, including industrial hygiene, and report findings to management.

·        Reviews and improves employee safety programs to align with company goals.

·        Understands and ensures compliance with local, state, and federal occupational health and safety regulations.

·        Communicates the organization’s emergency plans and participates in required drills.

·        Develop and implement best practices leading to continuous improvement and creating a winning safety culture.

·        Performs related work as assigned.

·        Regular attendance in the workplace is required for interaction with others and to support teamwork.

·        Specific Knowledge and Skills:

·        Speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; demonstrate group presentation skills and ability to conduct meetings.

·        Involve the shop associates in problem-solving and process improvement.

·        Foster and encourage an atmosphere of responsibility, safety, and pride.

·        Comply with all Company policies and procedures.

·        Adhere to all applicable safety and environmental standards (i.e federal, state, local, etc.)

What We’re Looking For:

·        Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (i.e., Occupational Health and Safety, EHS)

·        4+ years of HSS experience.

·        Knowledge of basic business software programs, such as Microsoft Office Suite.

What Sets You Apart:

·        Results oriented and strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at any level

·        Professional HSS Certifications are a plus (ASP, CSP, CIH, etc)

·        Experience in a manufacturing environment

Where and When You’ll Work:

·        This is an in-person role located at our Columbus, Indiana office - ideal for those who thrive in a hands, on team-oriented environment

What Your Total Compensation & Benefits Package will look like:

Salary - $74,000 - $95,000 per year. Compensation depends on the selected candidate’s education and experience.

Relocation: This role is eligible for relocation assistance based on current location
