Job Description

Location: METROHEALTH MEDICAL CENTER (REMOTE)

Biweekly Hours: 80.00

Shift: flexible start time 5a to 8a

Summary:


Develops and implements auditing protocols for the Emergency Departments, Life Flight rotary and ground transports, and the Clinical Decision Units and assigns diagnostic/procedure codes and appropriate variable visit charge codes in accordance with department/area services performed. Creates audit comparison reports. Monitors, tracks, and reports variances between internal findings and external vendor. Follows up on all incomplete or inaccurate codes and continuously monitors codes for accuracy. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer services standards of The MetroHealth System.

Qualifications:

Required: Bachelor's Degree in Health Care Administration, Business, or related field and experience in coding, billing, and/or reimbursement. In lieu of degree, five years of equivalent work experience in coding, billing, and/or reimbursement. Comprehensive understanding of CMS billing practices and health care issues affecting billing and reimbursement Certified AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders) or AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) Experience in CPT/HCPCS ICD10 coding and auditing Strong analytical skills and adept problem-solving ability Microsoft Office Suite proficiency Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred: Advance skills in Microsoft Excel. Certified Ambulance Coder from National Academy of Ambulance Compliance. Working knowledge of Epic/Flight Vector/EMS charting

Physical Demands: May need to move around intermittently during the day, including sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and ambulating. May need to remain still for extended periods, including sitting and standing. Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications. Ability to read job related documents.
