Job Description
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Engineer or Principal Engineer Materials and Process to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA.
Essential Functions:
• The selected candidate will be responsible for analyzing, researching, and developing materials and their related application processes for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.
• The candidate will apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material science to investigate material issues and provide solutions.
• The candidate will work in a team environment with other engineering organization performing detailed technical reviews of drawings, specifications and manufacturing plans.
This position can be filled at either the Engineer (Level 2) or Principal Engineer (Level 3) level.
Basic Qualifications:
• Basic Qualifications for an Engineer Materials and Process include a Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field with 2 or more years of engineering experience OR a Master's degree in STEM related field with 0 years of engineering experience
• Basic Qualifications for a Principal Engineer Materials and Process include a Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field with 5 or more years of engineering experience or a Master's degree in STEM related field with 2 years of engineering experience OR a PhD in STEM
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain an in-scope DoD Secret clearance prior to start
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR) (Not needed to start)
• Familiarity with composite pre-pregs, honeycombs, and adhesive materials; Fabrication, assembly, and repair processes for aircraft composite structures, familiar with metallic materials and processes
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with working on military aircraft
• Experience preparing and presenting oral and written reports
• Master's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science
• Experience with material Obsolescence issues and qualifying materials
• Experience with LO materials
Primary Level Salary Range: $83,400.00 - $125,200.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
