Job Description
Success Criteria
In this role, you will support active engineering work by assisting with modeling, documentation, testing, and data accuracy while working professionally in both office and shop environments. Successful interns and co-ops are curious, communicate well, and learn by doing. You will review drawings, support engineering changes, help resolve fabrication or assembly questions, and keep documentation current in ERP and PDM systems.
Strong performers pay attention to detail, ask questions, and take ownership of their development. Success means gaining real engineering experience while helping keep projects on track.
Summary / Objective
This internship is built to develop future engineers through hands-on project work, mentorship, and exposure to full product development. You will assist with design, documentation, build support, and testing on real products that go into production.
Your experience will reflect the work of early-career engineers while providing a supportive environment focused on growth and technical development.
What You’ll Do
Your work will align with your academic major, skill set, and term length. Typical responsibilities include:

- Partnering with the shop to resolve minor nonconformances
Process Engineering
- Updating routers, travelers, and BOM/routing details
- Supporting ECN documentation and work order health checks
- Coordinating daily with manufacturing to maintain workflow
Learning & Development
Interns and co-ops follow a structured development path that mirrors early-career engineering progression:
- Design Exposure: How parts and assemblies are created, detailed, and reviewed
- Manufacturing Exposure: Hands-on visibility into fabrication, machining, and assembly, closing the loop with engineering
- Project Exposure: Participation in proposals or improvement initiatives that impact cost, schedule, and performance
- Mentorship: A dedicated mentor from day one, with recurring check-ins to guide work and support growth
Returning interns may take on expanded responsibilities and may be eligible for compensation increases in subsequent terms.
