We are setting the standard for a modern sports and entertainment brand that shapes a better tomorrow for all.    Position Summary:  An Event Security Officer for a professional MLB team is tasked with maintaining a secure and safe environment during games and events. Responsibilities include implementing and enforcing security measures, conducting inspections, and collaborating with law enforcement to ensure the well-being of players, staff, and spectators.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Attend initial training as required to be prepared for the assignment at Target Field.
  • Be aware of the potential threats to Target Field and the guests who attend games here, including current threats to sports venues and crowded public events, basic terrorism awareness, and responses to actual or perceived threats. 
  • Provide a safe and secure environment on Target Field property for the well-being of everyone. 
  • Conduct Security screening of guests, employees, and personal possessions entering Target Field. 
  • Utilize walk-thru Evolv Weapons Detection System and handheld metal detectors as part of the Security screening process. 
  • Respond to calls for service on Target Field property, including disruptive, intoxicated, and/or uncooperative guests. 
  • Respond to medical calls and provide assistance to Medical Responders as requested. 
  • Complete incident reports as required. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
Required Experience and Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent. 
  • Previous experience in Law Enforcement, Probation, or Corrections. 
  • Previous experience in a security position with public interaction, ingress control and general public safety responsibilities. 
  • Ability to work a minimum of 40 events during season (12 of which must be weekend games).
  • Ability to work special event requirement, varies by event schedule (1 of 2, or 2 of 3-4).
  • Ability to work a shift of approximately 6.5 hours.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Basic understanding of the elements of the State criminal code.
  • Ability to physically confront, restrain, and/or detain unruly individuals. 
  • Strong customer service-related skills. 
  • Proven ability to de-escalate unruly individuals. 
  • Strong written and communication skills. 
  • Ability to handle and resolve issues and/or conflicts in an effective, calm manner.
  • Ability to act calmly but with urgency in emergency situations. 
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift items weighing as much as 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for an extended period of time. 
  • Ability to walk stairs repeatedly during shift. 
  • Must be comfortable walking to navigate the facility. 
  • Must be able to be productive in a work environment where the noise level can be high at times.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. 
  • Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as required by deadlines and event scheduling.
