Fleet Sales Lead

Troy, MI
Full-Time

Job Description

ABOUT SLATE

At Slate, we’re building safe, reliable vehicles that people can afford, personalize and love—and doing it here in the USA as part of our commitment to reindustrialization. The spirit of DIY and customization runs throughout every element of a Slate, because people should have control over how their trucks look, feel, and represent them.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Slate is looking for a hungry, mission-driven Fleet Sales Lead to join our growing fleet team.

As one of Slate’s first fleet sales leaders, you’ll be central to growing our business from the ground up. You’ll be responsible for identifying, engaging, and closing pre-sales and sales with mid-market, enterprise, and government customers. You will serve as a trusted advisor to fleet managers, procurement leaders, and sustainability officers, guiding them through the transition to electric vehicles with Slate’s vehicle, accessories and related fleet solutions.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO

  • Develop new leads, while also calling on existing contacts and targeted new accounts.

  • Represent Slate externally at events, conferences, and expos.

  • Manage a pipeline from qualification to pre-sales, close, and renewal.

  • Build long-term relationships with customers and partners.

  • Collaborate with internal teams such as Retail Sales, Marketing, Digital, and Engineering.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field. Advanced degree is preferred.

  • 8+ years of experience in B2B sales, with a focus on mid-market and/or enterprise customers.

  • Experience with fleet electrification, transportation, or energy industries is preferred.

  • Experience with state and local government sales and associated contracting processes is preferred.

  • Demonstrated success in complex sales cycles with multiple stakeholders.

  • Highly motivated, gritty, self-starter with the ability to operate in a dynamic white space environment and able to work through roadblocks. You’re a hunter, not a farmer.

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Strong business acumen and consultative sales approach.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, mission-driven startup environment.

  • Proficiency using Salesforce or other CRM systems.

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have the ability to travel (up to 50%).

  • Must have the ability to lift up to 35 pounds.

  • Must have the ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.

WHY JOIN TEAM SLATE?

At Slate, we’re fueled by grit, determination, and attention to detail. The start-up spirit of ingenuity and resourcefulness move our business forward. Team Slate fosters a culture of excellence, innovation, and mutual respect, and is motivated by shared principles.

  • Safety First

About Slate Auto

At Slate, we’ve got one job: building a vehicle you’ll fall in love with, right here in the USA.

We believe that car buyers—not car companies—should call the shots.

We like looking at a road, not a screen.

We don’t like paying for stuff we don’t need.

We like picking out the stuff we do need.

We think dings are badges, not blemishes.

But we know not everyone likes what we like.

So, we built you a Slate: you make it yours.
