FORECASTING ANALYST
As a Forecasting Analyst at Southern Company Services, you’ll have the opportunity to shape critical decisions for a leading electric utility by developing and communicating energy and peak demand forecasts, collaborating with a broad network of internal stakeholders, and rapidly building expertise in electricity sales, revenue, and demand modeling. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and communicate the energy, peak demand, and revenue forecasts for Southern Company’s electric utility operating companies.
- Regularly improve and enhance company understanding of energy usage trends and their impact on energy demands and company strategies.
- Prepare and present results of the forecast and related projects to the operating company representatives.
- Provide technical expertise in forecasting and modeling across the company
- Provide technical support in regulatory proceedings like Integrated Resource Plans (IRP) and rate case filings and PSC.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with clients.
- Perform special projects and assignments.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree required – B.A./B.S. strongly preferred in Economics or Statistics. Master’s degree or graduate degree in a complementary field like Finance or Engineering is preferred.
- 6 months experience in forecasting or quantitative analysis is required.
- Must have strong quantitative, modeling, analytical, technical, organizational, project management, presentation, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office products, Eviews, SAS, or other programming applications used in forecasting and data analytics.
- Candidate is expected to have time management skills to balance multiple priorities while producing high quality work under tight deadlines.
