This role is hybrid with on-site expectations in Ann Arbor, MI 3 days per week. Willingness to travel internationally is required. You will occasionally work during evenings or weekends. This position is included in the bargaining unit represented by the University Staff United (USU), which represents bargaining unit members in all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.

What You'll Do

As the Global Education Advisor, you will advise students regarding academic and co-curricular learning opportunities beyond the traditional classroom at Ross. You will also have responsibility in the applications and admissions process to Global Initiatives programs, program development, intercultural learning development, health and safety compliance, and on-site leadership of programs. You may have supervisory responsibility. You will report directly to the Associate Director of Global Initiatives.

Responsibilities*

40% Advising

  • Be a primary advisor for Ross and non-Ross UM students on academic and co-curricular global learning opportunities.
  • Guide students on program requirements, course selection, project management, and application processes through multiple advising channels.
  • Respond to inquiries from students, parents, faculty, and staff throughout all stages of program participation.

20% Program Development

  • Manage a portfolio of academic and co-curricular programs, collaborating with partner institutions, organizations, and faculty from initial development to post-program evaluation.
  • Conduct research and site visits to assess program options.

15% Application and Admissions Management

  • Oversee application processes, admissions decisions, and student record management.
  • Develop and refine admissions procedures with the Global Initiatives team.

10% Pre and Post-Departure Program Development

  • Design and deliver orientation programs, online learning modules, presentations, and written materials to support intercultural learning and student development.

5% Health and Safety Compliance/Emergency Response

  • Ensure adherence to UM and Ross travel policies, advise students and faculty on compliance, and review health and safety plans.
  • Participate in on-call emergency response and provide guidance on crisis management.

5% On-Site Program Leadership

  • Lead short-term programs, facilitating student learning, reflection, and personal development while managing logistics and addressing individual needs.
  • Exercise strong judgment and crisis management skills.

5% Supervision

  • Provide oversight and professional development for temporary or full-time support staff as needed.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in international education, higher education administration, global studies, business, social sciences, communications, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in program coordination, project management, advising, or international program development in education, business, nonprofit, government, or related sectors.
  • Experience advising on educational, professional, or personal development opportunities, such as academic programs, travel, fellowships, or exchanges.
  • Experience managing programs with international or cross-cultural components, including logistics, stakeholder engagement, and participant support.
  • Experience coordinating application and selection processes for programs, scholarships, fellowships, or training initiatives.
  • Experience developing orientation materials, training content, or intercultural learning resources for diverse audiences.
  • International experience through travel, living, or work, with an understanding of cross-cultural dynamics and global engagement.

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Additional Information

The posting range for this position is $52,300 - $64,550. This posting range reflects multiple factors involved in determining compensation, such as skills, experience, training, certifications, and other organizational needs. At Ross, it is not common for new hires to be offered a salary at the upper end of the range. Compensation decisions are based on the details of each situation.
