The Team
We are seeking a Hardware Solutions Engineer to join American Tower’s Business Enablement organization’s Hardware Solutions team. The team advances operational efficiency, safety, and innovation through field-based data collection technologies. Day to day you’ll work alongside experienced engineers, program managers, and cross-functional partners, including Engineering, IT, Network Operations, and Supply Chain Management department employees, to support the lifecycle of drone and other hardware solutions used in site data collection programs.
As a Hardware Solutions Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to learn from senior leaders and technical experts while contributing to the evaluation, testing, and deployment of cutting-edge drone and field hardware. You’ll play a key role in supporting pilot programs, documenting results, and helping to optimize solutions for scalability and business impacts. This role is ideal for someone eager to grow their technical skillset and gain exposure to emerging technologies in asset-intensive environments.
What You Can Offer Us
- Assist with evaluating, testing, and deploying drone and field hardware for site data collection initiatives.
- Support requirements gathering and documentation for hardware programs in collaboration with Engineering, Network Operations, and Supply Chain teams.
- Help coordinate pilot deployments, collect and analyze results, and contribute to lessons learned for future scale-up.
- Work with external vendors and technology partners to ensure hardware solutions meet performance and compliance standards.
- Contribute to the development and monitoring of key performance indicators to measure program effectiveness, safety, and business impact.
- Support compliance efforts by helping to document regulatory requirements and safety protocols for drone operations and hardware usage.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings and provide updates to senior leaders and project stakeholders.
- Take initiative in learning about new unmanned aircraft systems technology (“UAS”) hardware platforms, components, and innovations.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of enterprise technology enablement initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Need to Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Aviation, a related field, or equivalent work experience required.
- Between 2-4 years of hardware engineering, technology deployment, or related experience preferred (internship or academic project experience is welcome).
- Familiarity with drone hardware platforms, components, or UAS technology preferred.
- Exposure to program or project management practices through coursework or internships.
- Basic understanding of regulatory frameworks and safety requirements for drone operations preferred.
- Approximately 5% travel may be required to support pilot deployments, vendor collaboration, and program execution.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.
- Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results.
- Strong organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment.
