Position: HR Compliance Specialist

Location: Remote

Project Duration: 6 month contract

Rate: Negotiable Based on Experience

About the Role:

This is likely an HR generalist whose had Compliance experience. MUST have experience with I9 and work authorizations. Will mostly be dealing with the US but could see some international work as well.

Mostly transactional work (gathering info and sending to the audit team). MUST be able to work independently but know when to ask questions and escalate. MUST be customer service oriented as they'll be interacting with a lot of different people both in and outside of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Use current knowledge and resources in HR legal and compliance requirements to advise and support business to ensure compliance
  • Prepare and submit reports to HR management outlining findings and recommendations for corrective action.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records related to HR compliance activities, including audits, training records, and compliance-related communications.
  • Serve as a point of contact for HR compliance-related inquiries from employees, management, and internal and external audit inquiries.
  • I9 management + work authorization management for US based employees. Utilizing prior experience, oversee a process to ensure employment authorization and reverification in accordance with USCIS regulations.
  • Using experience in employee onboarding and employment authorization build and maintain strong partnerships with Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Total Rewards, HR Operations, Legal, and third-party administrators to efficiently manage onboarding and I-9 compliance
  • Operate as the process owner and ultimate point of contact for team members, managers, and HR department for escalated matters around US work authorization
  • Identify processing gaps / opportunities and initiate efforts to streamline processing / manual activities across client vendors and internal operations.
  • Strong analytic skills and a demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret information and trends.
  • Other compliance responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or in lieu of, 4 years of relevant HR experience to the position
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proficiency in Workday
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite

Preferred Skills/Competencies

  • Global/International HR exposure and experience is a plus.
  • 2 years’ experience with USCIS, work authorization, and FCRA laws and regulations is a plus
  • Proficiency in Servicenow
  • Customer Service and Responsiveness – Following up and responding to inquiries
  • Continuous Improvement - Consistently seeking opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our work and services provided.
  • Quality of Work – Double checking work produced to ensure accuracy, thoroughness, and completeness.
