Full Job Description

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITES & DUTIES:

As the Incident Response Manager and part of the Security Frontline Team, you will overtly and covertly analyze potential threats and hostile activity by stopping threats before they manifest; manage the Special Officers; investigate; provide executive protection; facilitate security awareness training; and oversee loss prevention. You will oversee the protection of the Museum's priceless art collection and ensuring the safety of the staff, volunteers and the visiting public.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILIES & DUTIES:

  • Manage the Met's Special Officer program, to include training and development of Special Officers

  • Facilitate Museum wide security awareness training, to include active shooter training

  • Perform high-level covert & overt executive protection, planning, and logistical support dignitaries, VIPs, and local/state/federal/world leaders while maintaining a low-profile

  • Provide real-time information and support to the Security Intelligence Unit

  • Establish and maintain effective emergency response protocols, including fire safety and medical response procedures.

  • Notify the Security Operation Center, Intelligence Unit, and Security Leadership of any irregularities, suspicious activities, security breaches and/or safety hazards.Document and report incidents in MET case management system of noteworthy developments, investigations, and incidents.

  • Engage with suspicious persons and use appropriate escalation of force level up to and including armed response as dictated by the situation and protocol

  • Manage the Loss Prevention program and regularly analyzes and review incident trends to advise Met Retail Management of action steps that can be used to prevent shoplifting and inventory shrinkage.

  • Assist the Associate Chief Security Officers with investigative needs, to include providing support with internal or external partners. Investigative support may include loss of assets (including confidential and proprietary information) and violations of Museum & Security Department Policies

  • Identify, monitor, record details of suspicious behaviors and patterns by unknown individuals, to include unusual or prolonged interest in the Security Departments Frontline Security Force deployments; probing questions of Security personnel about capabilities; penetration tests of security systems or screening procedures; observing security patterns or procedures; and suspicious vehicles entering, leaving, or parking in the Museum garages.

  • Manage and/or directly participate in the development and implementation of security plans in support of Museum Special Events

  • Identify potential escalating situations and identify and mitigate escalated behavior through proactive and effective communication skills and techniques, both verbal and non-verbal.

  • Routinely monitor the interior and exterior spaces of the Museum to check for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked entrances and exits, mechanical problems, suspicious behavior, and unauthorized persons in restricted spaces.

  • Respond to incidents involving the Museum's art collection, fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, and other incidents and Act as the liaison to local law enforcement and other government agencies.

  • Any duties as assigned by the Associate CSO for Frontline Security Operations, Deputy Chief Security Officer or Chief Security Officer.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school Degree

  • NYC Pistol Permit (Required)

  • NY Armed Guard License (Required)

  • Must have at least 15-years of prior law enforcement experience

  • Proven experience in security management, law enforcement, military, or fire department operations, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.

  • Preferred higher level of education of AA degree or higher

  • Proficiency in New York City Fire Safety codes and regulations, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Life Safety Codes

  • Prior Investigative Experience

  • Experience in the security loss prevention

  • Valid full carry permit and Valid Armed Guard License

  • Proficient in the use of Firearms

  • Attend quarterly firearms and tactical training

  • Ability to work calmly and efficiently, particularly when under duress.

  • Capable to work on your feet for extended periods

  • Trained in de-escalation techniques

  • Customer service and public relations skills

  • Ability to perform and demonstrate self-control under difficult circumstances

  • Leadership skills and a positive attitude

  • Communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Committed, Reliable and Trustworthy

  • Must be willing to work on a shift schedule (including weekends, holidays and non-business hours) and have flexible availability. This includes the ability to work an extended schedule during crisis periods.

COMPENSATION RANGE:

  • Pay Range: $95,000.00 - $100,000.00 / Annually

  • The advertised pay scale reflects the good faith minimum and maximum salary range for this role. The advertised pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage for any specific employee. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, education, special licensing or qualifications, and other factors.
