Summary: The Certified Technician provides support to the pharmacist by reviewing, sterile compounding and dispensing medications. All work is carried out under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist. 

This position qualifies for our Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program, which includes $5000 in commitment incentives spread over a two-year period. Payment is made after six months, one year, and two years of employment. Responsibilities: 

  1. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, fulfills medication and supply orders for distribution to hospitals and clinics within and/or affiliated with the health-system.
  2. Sterile compounds medications under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist. 
  3. Coordinates shipments to hospitals and clinics with multiple couriers and shipment pathways and ensures compliance with temperature requirements (i.e; cold chain, room temperature) 
  4. Documents pharmaceutical distribution activities for medications and equipment, quality control requirements, etc. using automated and paper systems. Ensures accuracy of data.
  5.  Responds to and triages requests from customers for assistance with pharmacy distribution or compounding services. 
  6. Supports hospital automated dispensing technology to supply correct refill medications thru targeted distribution programs. 
  7. Receives, restocks, and rotates inventory, and completes expiration date management.
  8.  Assists with the training of new employees, educating them in job-specific functions. 
  9. Contributes to process improvement projects. 
  10. Participates in regulatory compliance inspection of medication storage areas, including inspections and/or controlled substance inventories, USP797 and other regulatory documentation as required.

Education Requirements:
● None required as long as other position qualifications are met. Completion of an academic pharmacy technician training program preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
·CPhT from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● 1 year Sterile IV pharmacy technician experience is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:

  • Requires standing for extended periods (most of an 8-hour shift) 
  • Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift 
  • Must be able to reach over head to access shelved product
