Job Description
Based on our internal equity review process, the starting salary for this position will be $17.04.
The current full hourly range for this position is $17.04 - $21.42.

Join the Beyond the Bell team this year as an Instructor I at one of our Tacoma Elementary school sites! In this role, you’ll support Tacoma Public Schools students as they engage in hands-on activities and fun active learning.
Instructor I’s are equipped with a fully developed curriculum and supported through training that prepares them to deliver lessons with clarity, consistency, and high instructional quality. As an Instructor I, you’ll be responsible for supervising and engaging a group of up to 15 K-5th grade students in fun hands-on structured ELO activities. You’ll play a key role in creating a positive, structured, and inclusive environment where kids can learn, grow, and thrive. You'll lead as well as support positive behavior management, ensure a safe and welcoming environment, and build strong relationships that foster a sense of community. Your energy, creativity, and consistency will help make each day meaningful and fun for your group.
The Instructor I position will begin as an on-call/substitute role to support program needs as they arise. As new curriculum is developed, finalized, and rolled out across program sites, this position is expected to transition into more consistent, regularly scheduled hours. Candidates should be comfortable with an initially flexible schedule and interested in growing into a more structured instructional role as the program expands.
