Job Description
ABOUT SLATE
At Slate, we’re building safe, reliable vehicles that people can afford, personalize and love—and doing it here in the USA as part of our commitment to reindustrialization. The spirit of DIY and customization runs throughout every element of a Slate, because people should have control over how their trucks look, feel, and represent them.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Slate is looking for a dynamic, organized, and charismatic leader to take charge of our internal communications. You are entirely independent, able to ideate projects, see them through to completion, and do most of the work with minimal supervision. You have experience dialing in a brand’s tone of voice and adapting it to speak to various audiences and stakeholders through a variety of media. You are a player-coach who can get the work done and mentor others, including executive leadership. You enjoy working cross-functionally and understand how to engage other teams toward common goals and you understand the power of a key message. Above all else, you love spending time thinking about cars.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO
As the Internal Communications Senior Manager, you will strategize, execute, and serve as the voice for company communications. You will:
Spearhead strategic development and execution of internal company messaging.
Produce the monthly All-Hands meetings, collaborating closely with the Creative Operations team writing, strategizing, and being present for production (which will require about monthly travel).
Develop company newsletters.
Manage and optimize the company intranet.
Support executive communications, including CEO communications and crisis communications.
Find unique and innovative ways of connecting Slate team members at office sites, remote offices, and our factory in Warsaw, IN.
Write daily, producing high-quality content across multiple channels.
Make Slate easy to understand for all employees, including team members who don’t work at desks (factory, sales, or remote staff).
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
15+ years of communications experience.
Minimum 7 years of experience in daily news production/distribution.
Proven experience in scriptwriting, video production, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Experience in CEO and executive communications.
Experience in crisis communications.
Experience communicating with non-desk employees (factory, remote, sales, etc.).
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and see projects through to completion with minimal supervision.
Strong writing and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to mentor others and influence stakeholders.
Automotive experience is preferred but not required.
WHY JOIN TEAM SLATE?

About Slate Auto
At Slate, we’ve got one job: building a vehicle you’ll fall in love with, right here in the USA.
We believe that car buyers—not car companies—should call the shots.
We like looking at a road, not a screen.
We don’t like paying for stuff we don’t need.
We like picking out the stuff we do need.
We think dings are badges, not blemishes.
But we know not everyone likes what we like.
So, we built you a Slate: you make it yours.
Slate Auto would like you to finish the application on their website.
