International Processor and Foreign Exchange Teller

Job Description

Location: On site in Memphis, TN

Summary

Serves as Primary Foreign Currency Teller. Assists in processing Foreign Checks and International documentary collections in an orderly, accurate and expeditious manner in accordance with current department and regulatory guidelines and customer/RM instructions.

Duties and Responsibilities include

Foreign Exchange

  • Assists currency customers at counter, via email and on the telephone
  • Appropriate drawer balance maintained and reported daily; Teller items handled timely
  • Transactions handled accurately and efficiently

Processing checks drawn on other countries

Determines:

  • Whether check can be processed (no red flags, signed, endorsed, not stale dated, etc.)
  • Whether check is to be processed for provisional credit or collection
  • Whether provisional credit is appropriately authorized
  • Whether or not customer has received credit already
  • Any special instructions and/or special requests are documented with the file

Processes checks within required time frame using current operating systems:

  • Keys/updates customer database information in operating system
  • Checks customer database for any special processing or fee instructions
  • Calculates and keys fees into operating system for all transactions
  • Forwards correspondence, original items and/or copies to all required parties as requested
  • Places file in appropriate location based on type and status

Maintains files to be sure that:

  • Tracers are sent out timely, accurately and appropriately
  • Fees paid and properly applied
  • Correspondence and communication with internal and external customers is documented
  • Files are properly imaged and organized
  • Special events (like acknowledgements, partial payments, changes in terms) are properly tracked and completed

Direct / International Documentary Collections

Processes within required time frame using current operating systems:

  • Keys/updates customer database information into operating system
  • Checks customer database for any special processing or fee instructions
  • Calculates and keys fees into operating system for all transactions
  • Forwards correspondence to all required parties as requested
  • Places file in appropriate location based on type and status

Maintains files to be sure that:

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate
  • Basic to Intermediate knowledge & skills of Microsoft Windows/Excel
  • Above average communication skills, written and oral
  • Proven attention to detail
  • Self-starter and motivator
  • Team player

Preferred: 

  • Associates Degree in Business
  • Customer Service experience
  • Banking background
  • International experience / Knowledge of International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) guidelines
