JOB DESCRIPTION

Apex is seeking a dynamic Lead Consultant with strong consultative skills to serve as an Lead Data Engineer. As a Lead Data Engineer, your role will focus providing guidance to a team of Data Engineers as well as hands on work including implementing and optimizing data solutions to support enterprise-wide data requirements. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop data pipelines, enhance performance, and drive consistency across data engineering processes.

RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Provide expertise and leadership to other Data Engineers as well as applying your hands-on advanced knowledge of Data Engineering principles, methodologies and techniques to design and implement data loading and aggregation frameworks across broad areas of the organization.
  • Design and implement scalable data pipelines using Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, and Apache Iceberg.
  • Demonstrate strong technical knowledge and implementation skills. Stay current on relevant technology trends and practices. Build trust and respect among internal and external stakeholders and demonstrate collaborative teamwork.
  • Produce high quality deliverables, meet project deadlines, and take responsibility for engagement success. Demonstrate a passion for quality and process improvement.
  • Demonstrate professional level consulting skills and communication/presentation skills.
  • Continually innovate, seek creative solutions, and find new ways of adding value. Listen and seek to understand the client and meet their needs, providing consultative guidance. Stay attuned to the future needs of the client and work with internal resources to identify opportunities. Proactively provide solutions and approach adversity with a solution-focused mindset.
  • Identify and evaluate new team members through professional networking and technical screening.
  • Perform assessments of clients' environments and design robust solutions and roadmaps.
  • Gather and process raw, structured, semi-structured and unstructured data using batch and real-time data processing frameworks.
  • Implement and optimize data solutions in enterprise data warehouses and big data repositories, focusing primarily on movement to the cloud.
  • Drive new and enhanced capabilities to Enterprise Data Platform partners to meet the needs of product / engineering / business.
  • Experience building enterprise systems especially using Databricks, Snowflake and platforms like Azure, AWS, GCP, etc.
  • Leverage strong Python, Spark, SQL programming skills to construct robust pipelines for efficient data processing and analysis.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for automating build, test, and deployment processes to accelerate the delivery of data solutions.
  • Implement data modeling techniques to design and optimize data schemas, ensuring data integrity and performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance, reliability, and scalability of our data infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Implement best practices for data governance, security, and compliance to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of our data assets.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in a data engineering role, with experience in both Snowflake and Databricks platforms and expertise in designing and building data pipelines, ETL processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring teams of Data Engineers.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python and Spark programming languages.
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is a must.
  • Experience in implementing CI/CD pipelines for automating build, test, and deployment processes.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling concepts, data warehousing architectures, and data management best practices.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and drive consensus on technical decisions.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure, Databricks, Snowflake) would be a plus
