Position Title: Lead Software Engineer
Job Description:
Responsible for leading technical architecture, design, implementation, data modelling, deployment, and support of applications in data intensive environment. Lead, coordinate and train a global support team providing follow-the-sun support coverage of the reference data platform. Act as Subject matter expert in use of vendor supplied financial reference data. Responsible for data pipeline operational efficiency and production quality, including regular monitoring of workflow to detect functional and technical gap for continuous improvement as well as release of firm-wide high-impact data changes. Perform hands-on development, data modeling, and problem resolution in complex cloud-based architectures supporting financial instrument workflows. Participate in setting technical direction, sprint planning, release planning, and prioritization of work on the platform. Interact with internal business stakeholders and external data vendors around full data life cycle in a dual capacity of developer and analyst, continuously evolving data platform from operational and engineering perspective. End to end involvement in application lifecycle phases including DevOps process, release deployments, and support. Position is fixed location based in Boston office; however, telecommuting from a home office is allowed.
Job Requirements:
Requires a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field plus four (4) years of experience performing software engineering in the financial services industry.
Must have four (4) years of experience in each of the following (experience may be gained concurrently):
- Developing and supporting complex financial instrument reference data workflows including instrument setup
- Cross-domain of data in a financial services organization with deep understanding of instrument types, including equity, fixed-income, and options.
- Working with vendor reference data models, including Bloomberg, FactSet, S&P, and MSCI
- Relationship management for reference data vendors, including responsibility for collaborating on business requirement evolution
- Database design and performance tuning with Oracle and PL/SQL
- Triage and lead communication for problem resolution, including best practice for ITIL severity levels
- Proficiency in at least two of the following programming languages: JavaScript, Python, or Java
- Modern software development including test driven development, continuous integration, metadata driven software, and agile development methodologies
- Training and coordinating global support team for follow-the-sun coverage
- Managing and monitoring Amazon Web Services cloud infrastructure including cost optimization, with focus on EC2, ECS, and RDS
- Designing relational data models and version upgrades with Amazon Aurora, PostgreSQL, and Aurora MySQL
- Designing and delivery of custom business-intelligence reports using Tableau
- Using IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler and DataStage for production critical workloads
Will accept a Bachelor’s degree plus seven (7) years of experience performing software engineering in the financial services industry in lieu of a Master’s degree plus four (4) years of experience.
40 hours/week, 9:00am-5:00pm, Salary: $179,000- $185,000/year.
