As a Library Assistant II, you will support multiple service areas - including Circulation, Adult Services, and Youth & Family Services (YFS) - by providing high quality service and helping connect our diverse community to resources, learning, and enrichment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality customer service at multiple service points by assisting patrons with account and borrowing needs, computers, public access catalogs, copiers, fax machines, eReaders, and room reservations.
- Offer Reader's Advisory, job search assistance, and homework help using both print and digital resources.
- Promote library programs and services.
- Maintain and update patron accounts using CPL's automated systems, including time management, circulation, and payment software.
- Handle point-of-sale transactions with accuracy and professionalism, including processing payments for fines, fees, merchandise sales, and donations.
- Receive, check in, and reshelve returned library materials accurately and efficiently.
- Enforce library policies to maintain a welcoming and productive environment.
- Actively participate in internal committees, projects, and initiatives to support library goals.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Proficiency with computers and common office and library technologies.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and basic cash-handling/reconciliation procedures.
