Lighting Materials Analyst

Responsibilities will include initiating, monitoring, and supporting lighting material procurement and receiving processes for both Alabama and Georgia Power lighting groups. This position will work with lighting sales, engineers, construction coordinators, Supply Chain partners and vendors to facilitate material processes to support lighting’s goals of net income and customer satisfaction. This position will be responsible for material analysis of all lighting material, inventory management, creating and tracking Purchase Requisitions within Maximo, supporting the Special Material Requirements (SMR) process, reporting, and assisting in material standardization. In addition, this position will be responsible for managing all material for both new business large lighting projects as well as large conversion projects. This position will be managing confidential and competitive information on pricing quotes from vendors. 

    

JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)

Education:

  • A two or four-year degree is a plus.

Experience:   

  • Two years street & area lighting or equivalent experience desired.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple simultaneous tasks.
  • Initiative-taker who enjoys working on “big picture” issues and problem solving.
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills.

Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Knowledge of Alabama and Georgia Power lighting material, rates, contracts, procedures, programs, and processes strongly desired
  • Knowledge of JETS, Maximo, and Lamp 2.0 a plus
  • Extensive knowledge in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel and Power BI, is a must.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – Ability to properly represent Alabama and Georgia Power at various public events, internal and external meetings. 
  • Collaborator with the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with Lighting personnel across the system, vendors, as well as with various functional areas of Southern Company Operating Companies.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:   Specify major duties performed by the job and % of time spent on duties.  

  • Inventory management.
  • Data analysis of lighting material for usage, inventory levels, and standardization.
  • Facilitate the Purchase Requisition (PR) process of special-order lighting materials with Maximo.
  • Facilitate the SMR process by tracking quotes, orders, and promise dates.
  • Communicate and track lead times of lighting material.
  • Monitor vendor reports of product availability and shipment to identify missed promise dates.
  • Support our Warranty Testing Center and process warranty returns/credits.
  • Complete and maintain various lighting material reports.
  • Assist in updating and creating new processes related to materials.
  • Complete material audits throughout the state at both the LMDC and Region Warehouses.
  • Manage material (ordering, staging, lead-times, etc.) for large lighting projects.

Time Allocations (approximate)

  • Material Request & Procurement: 60%
  • Reports & Material Analysis: 25%
  • Support: 6%
  • Miscellaneous: 5%
  • Physical Inventory Audits: 3%
  • Committee/Conferences: 1%
