The Northrop Grumman Classified Solutions team is seeking an experienced Linux Systems Administrator to join its dynamic team of technical professionals. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Space Systems support team.
Note- The selected candidate will be required to work on-site, full-time, at our facility/campus. This is not a virtual position.
Develops computer systems specifications that address business requirements and that fit with the company's system architecture standards. Establishes and documents system parameters and formats, ensures hardware and software systems compatibility and coordinates and/or modifies system parameters in terms of existing and projected computer capacity and capabilities. Revises existing systems and procedures to correct deficiencies and maintain more effective data handling, conversion, input/output requirements, and storage.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
• Serve as a senior Linux Systems Administrator within an AWS cloud environment for a classified government contract, applying extensive technical expertise and full knowledge of related disciplines.
• Lead the provisioning and management of cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), including Kubernetes clusters, virtual machines (VMs), storage, and networking, regularly employing ingenuity and creativity to solve complex problems.
• Establish, apply, and enforce security controls, configurations, and baselines in accordance with federal standards such as NIST SP 800-53 and ICD 503, exercising considerable latitude in determining technical objectives.
• Direct and manage access to core infrastructure by adhering to the principle of least privilege, ensuring all privileged actions are properly audited, and guiding the successful completion of major programs.
• Oversee the maintenance of security audit and logging information for all classified computers (networked and standalone) as directed by the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM), with completed work reviewed from a long-term perspective for desired results.
• Design and implement environment monitoring and alerting tools to track trends in pod issues, proposing and leading software or infrastructure improvements to development leads.
• Support and coordinate administration across multiple networks, ensuring all necessary tasks are completed efficiently and guiding project teams as needed.
• Maintain the smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, collaborating with network, software, and systems engineers, project managers, and end-users, and representing the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects.
• Lead testing of new product releases to ensure compatibility and minimize impact on users, regularly interacting with senior external personnel on significant technical matters.
• Drive the development and documentation of technical processes and procedures, ensuring clarity and effectiveness.
• Review internal and external customer requirements to determine equipment and software needs for complex problem resolution, often requiring coordination between organizations.
• Report on project status for all recurring and non-recurring efforts, guiding the successful completion of major programs and projects.
• Communicate effectively at all organizational levels, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external customers, clearly presenting technical approaches and findings.
• Participate in a mandatory rotating on-call schedule, providing direct support to the program during assigned periods. The candidate will be required to report to work during off-hours as needed while on rotation; on-call participation is not optional and is essential to ensuring continuous operational support for program objectives.
• Other duties/responsibilities as assigned, with considerable latitude in determining technical objectives and approaches.

Basic Qualifications (for level 3):
• Master's Degree with 3 years of IT experience; OR a Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of IT experience; OR an Associate's Degree with 7 years of IT experience; OR a High School Diploma/GED with 9 years of IT experience is required
• Must have a DOD 8570 IAT Level II, or higher, certification (ex: Security+ CE) to be considered; maintaining the required certification will be a condition of continued employment.
• Linux Operating Systems support experience.
• Linux Workstation and Server management experience.
• Experience operating under and managing systems within NISPOM Chapter 8, DCID 6/3-ICD 503, RMF, STIG, JAFAN, or JSIG information system environments.
• Candidates must have a current DoD Top Secret/SCI level security clearance to include a recent Polygraph (adjudicated within the last 5-years) in order to be considered; maintaining the required security clearance will be a condition of continued employment.
• The selected candidate will be required to obtain, and maintain, a Special Access Program (SAP/SAR) clearance as a condition of continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications:
• AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate (or higher).
• Experience with the creation and deployment of system images in an enterprise cloud environment.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Ansible for cloud resource management.
• Experience with container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes) in a production environment.
• Working knowledge of basic networking, including subnets, routing, and VLANs. Cisco experience or certification is a plus.
• Windows Active Directory (AD), Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), and Identity Management (IdM) for Linux.
• Experience with Shell Scripting and debugging.
• Working knowledge of AWS S3 Buckets, AWS EFS shares, and other types of network storage systems.
• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) for the current version.
• VMware experience with the current version.
• Experience with the Certification and Accreditation (C&A) process.
• Knowledge of environmental monitoring tools (e.g., HBSS, Trelix, Splunk).
• Experience with recommending and implementing system enhancements to improve system performance and reliability, including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.
• Ability to interact with, meet, discuss, and troubleshoot issues with vendors; experience with evaluating vendor products, services, and suggestions.
• Ability to work under minimal direction and independently develop approaches to solutions, exercising considerable latitude in technical decision-making.
• Ability to provide backup and recovery services, manage file systems and disk space, and manage virus protection on a routine basis.
• Ability to clearly present technical approaches and findings to all organizational levels, both verbally and in writing.
• DoD 8570 Certification in a primary OS (Windows, Linux, Cisco).

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,200.00 - $136,800.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $113,500.00 - $170,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
