Summary:

UNC Clinical Research Partners (UNC CRP) is a newly established clinical research joint venture between UNC Health and the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill. Led by the UNC Health Chief Clinical Research Officer, UNC CRP is designed to accelerate and grow industry-sponsored clinical research at UNC Chapel Hill and UNC Health.

This position is responsible for providing strategic and operational oversight of an integrated marketing and communications roadmap for UNC CRP. The Manager will be responsible for coordinating communications teams across entities and leading in planning, developing, implementing, evaluating, and reporting on a comprehensive, integrated, and omni-channel marketing and communications program that reaches clinicians, patients, and external partners alike.

This position will provide leadership, strategic direction, and day-to-day oversight of internal and external marketing and communication activities. The Manager will work closely with the CRP’s leadership team, and communications leadership of UNC and UNC Health to develop and execute plans aligned with and in support of the mission and strategic objections of UNC CRP. 

Responsibilities:
1. Cultivate and maintain relationships across entities to become a subject matter expert on the clinical research capabilities of UNC CRP.
2. Raise UNC CRP’s profile to help position it as a best-in-class and preferred partner for industry research.
3. Design and implement strategic communications and marketing plans to align with and advance UNC CRP’s business priorities.
4. Develop communication plans tailored to diverse internal and external audiences, including but not limited to clinicians, research staff, various patient populations, and external partners.
5. Work with broader UNC and UNC Health marketing teams and external vendor(s) to establish branding (internal and external) for UNC CRP.
6. Analyze consumer insights, brand preference tracking, and in-depth research to identify market opportunities and consumer preferences to support campaign creations.
7. Support the establishment of a vision for CRP to drive business growth and differentiation in the marketplace.
8. Set specific campaign performance goals that align with the overall direction and business goals.
9. Create and disseminate accurate, compelling, timely and effective internal and external communications, content, public relations, and marketing campaigns, strategies, and tactics.
10. Direct UNC CRP brand identity and ensure its consistent application and growth.
11. Direct the development and maintenance of the UNC CRP’s website, including content, design, information architecture and functionality.
12. Advise on clinical research-related content across UNC and UNC Health websites to promote One UNC Clinical Research messaging.
13. Measure effectiveness of marketing initiatives, recommend optimizations based on analytics, and drive implementation.
14. Develop and manage communications budget and oversee purchases; obtain and manage team resources .

● Bachelor’s degree required
● Master’s degree preferred
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Professional Experience Requirements:
● •A minimum of 7 years of major marketing, public relations, and/or communications experience in health care or life sciences, including at least five years in a management role.
● •Understanding of and experience with clinical research required.
● •Start up and/or brand launch experience required
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
● •Demonstrated experience in creating, directing and managing content for various multi-media platforms, including website, digital, social media, print, newsletter, and email.
● •Outstanding interpersonal communication skills.
● •Excellent writing skills. Writing experience in a healthcare/science environment required
● •Ability to manage time and priorities with diverse responsibilities and multiple stakeholders.
