Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking candidates for the position of Manager Test Engineering 2 to support advanced technology development programs.
This position requires 100% full-time work onsite at Northrop Grumman's facility in Linthicum or Annapolis Junction, MD.
Candidate MUST be a US Citizen and be willing to obtain/maintain a security clearance once onboard.
What You'll Get to Do
This is a dual-role manager/physical test systems position. Management duties include supporting, developing, and tasking staff; developing engineering process; and providing resources to meet program needs. The manager will also perform technical work on programs. The split between technical and functional management duties will be approximately 80% technical /20% functional, on average. The direct program work will include data acquisition and analysis on superconducting digital electronics. This position will take ownership of ensuring data quality through generation of novel analysis tools and data reports, as well as fostering high-quality data summary reports and presentations prepared by members of the team through mentorship and guidance. This position will involve both using existing test resources (hardware and software) and developing new tools to improve test throughput and reliability.
Roles and responsibilities include some or all of the following:
• Lead a team of 10-15 technical staff in a management role. Administrative management responsibilities include staffing, performance and compensation management, and career development.
• Execute in a direct contributor or technical leadership role supporting MDA programs.
• Responsible for labor and material execution through cost account management (CAM) assignments.
• Partner with program management to track execution and provide technical leadership to the team.
• Ensure proper engineering processes and procedures are followed.
• Work with peers and training leads to identify critical skill shortfalls; develop appropriate technical training; and improve team performance.
Basic Qualifications:
• PhD in experimental physics, electrical engineering, or a STEM related field and 4 plus years of relevant technical experience; master's degree and 6 years of relevant technical experience; bachelor's degree and 8 plus years of relevant technical experience.
• Experience mentoring teams and providing leadership in a lab setting
• Experience mentoring and leading peers in data science projects
• Experience developing and presenting data visualizations for scientific analysis
• Proficiency writing code in MATLAB and/or Python
• Experience using query languages such as SQL
• Strong applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
• Proven skills in tackling/solving complex problems in the context of Electrical Theory/Physics
• Ability to learn new topics quickly in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including managers, designers, scientists, and other engineers
• Strong leadership qualities, including excellent communication and collaboration, team engagement, and organizational skills.
• This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. Citizen.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance per customers' requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Active U.S. Government security clearance.
• PhD in experimental physics, electrical engineering, or related field.
• Experience developing and presenting data visualizations for microelectronics applications
• Experience with microelectronic or integrated circuit manufacturing processes
• Product Lifecycle experience
• JMP proficiency (SAS statistical tool) and experience scripting in JSL
• Experience with low temperature experimental setups.
• Experience working with digital signal processing
• 9 years of experience in a multi-disciplined science/engineering environment.
Primary Level Salary Range: $139,800.00 - $209,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
