How will you make a difference?

The Material Planner will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment.  In this role, you will coordinate and expedite the flow of materials (from suppliers and within departments) according to production schedules, plan, and schedule material / production needs via forecast and master schedule. This position requires working on-site as an essential function.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Work with materials and fulfillment teams to manage safety stocks, manage order modifiers, and planning parameters for optimal material availability.
  • Create and execute continuous improvement projects to deliver safety, efficiency, and cost savings for warehousing, production lines, and/or the shop as a whole.
  • Meet inventory metrics, including but not limited to material availability, inventory, field order OTD, non-nettable inventory, material flow, premium transportation, warehousing spend, warehousing discrepancy, customer core management & out of scope material usage.
  • Provide clear communication and material guidance to management and other Wabtec employees daily.
  • Work as part of a cross-functional team, driving a "one team" focus, and dedicated to customer success within the shop.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, OSHA work practices, and industry/site-specific work rules.
  • Work with various MRP, quality, and MES software systems to manage material and other systemic requirements. Develop and follow standard work.
  • Work with data analytics teams to mine & interpret material usage data and implement forecasts
  • Take ownership of and lead projects for plantwide materials process improvement in addition to your planning responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Three years of experience in a manufacturing industry, preferably within a Materials or Finance role.
  • Bachelor's degree, Associates degree, or a high school diploma / GED with at least 10 years of experience in Manufacturing.
  • Strong Data Analysis skills.
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Lean manufacturing techniques and processes.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while having a high degree of attention to details.
  • Knowledge of production/materials control systems.
  • Continuous Improvement (CI) mindset with the ability to lead CI projects.
  • Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to motivate and lead.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working experience with Oracle or similar ERP system
  • Proven problem-solving skillset with the ability to generate creative solutions.  (Analyze issues that may arise and create solutions.)
  • Understanding of production forecasting and scheduling concepts

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $62100-85300. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com. Other benefit offerings for this role may include annual bonus, if eligible.
