Apprentice Mechanic / Journeyman Mechanic - Plant Daniel
This position is based in Moss Point, Mississippi.
This position will be covered by the memorandum of Agreement between Mississippi Power and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Job Requirements
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical problems on equipment in an industrial environment. The position will be filled at a Journeyman or Apprentice level based on experience in the maintenance of power plant or heavy industrial equipment.
Job Knowledge
- 5 or more years’ experience as a Journeyman Mechanic preferred
- 2-year college degree or Technical Certification related to this position a plus
- Experience repairing industrial boilers preferred
- Experience repairing pumps, valves, dampers preferred
- Experience welding (Stick, MIG, TIG) preferred
- Experience using an oxygen/acetylene torch preferred
- Experience using precision measurement tools preferred
- Experience rigging and lifting heavy equipment preferred
- Must be able to read and understand equipment prints preferred
- Must be able to read, understand and apply technical instruction manuals required
- Must be able to use power and hand tools required
- Must possess intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office applications, Maximo a plus)
- Must be able to work in a team environment
