Medical Promo Writer

Position Overview
Our client, a leading pharmaceutical company, is seeking an experienced Promo Copywriter with medical writing expertise to support their in-house creative agency. This role involves translating complex medical information and product claims into compelling, compliant promotional content across multiple channels. The ideal candidate combines medical accuracy with creative storytelling, ensuring content aligns with brand voice and strategic objectives.

Location: Remote
Engagement: As-needed, project-based
Start Date: Mid-January 2026

Key Responsibilities

  • Promotional Copywriting
    • Transform medical data and product claims into clear, engaging promotional copy for consumer-facing marketing.
    • Develop content for social media, paid advertising, out-of-home (OOH), broadcast, and digital channels.
    • Ensure all copy adheres to regulatory and medical/legal review (MLR) standards.
  • Content Strategy & Brand Voice
    • Support brand storytelling and narrative development across campaigns.
    • Collaborate with creative and strategy teams to maintain consistency in tone and positioning.
    • Contribute to strategic-level claims and campaign-focused messaging.
  • Claims Development
    • Write and refine core claims for pharma brands, including:
      • Strategic positioning claims.
      • Campaign-specific claims.
    • Original claim creation for integrated marketing efforts.
  • Future Scope
    • Opportunity to expand into broadcast strategy work and broader content strategy initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in promotional copywriting within pharma or healthcare marketing.
  • Strong background in medical writing and ability to interpret complex clinical data.
  • Background working in pharma-specialized agencies or in-house pharma creative teams.
  • Proven ability to craft compliant, consumer-friendly messaging for regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with MLR review processes and industry standards.
  • Experience across therapeutic areas including Cardiometabolic Health, Oncology, Immunology, or Neuroscience.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Broadcast and integrated campaign experience.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (creative, strategy, regulatory).
  • AMA, American Medical Association
