Job Description:

The META project coordinator will oversee the Music Educator and Teaching Artists (META) Fellowship at Berklee City Music (BCM). META @ Berklee is a unique learning community which brings together music educators and teaching artists in Massachusetts to enhance music education pathways for youth. META @ Berklee seeks to develop stronger connections between music educators and teaching artists, and increase awareness of the resources available in MA to benefit the youth they serve.

The META coordinator will play a pivotal role in supporting music educators in MA through the following key responsibilities:

  • Fellowship management:

    • Plan and develop meetings, events and communications for the META fellowship.

    • Collaborate with BCM managers to set procedures, policies and processes for the META Fellowship @ Berklee.

    • Contribute to reports for internal and external stakeholders

    • Collaborate with BCM META steering committee and with practitioners to develop and implement training sessions

    • Conduct site visits and provide oversight related to partner site compliance

    • Provide regular updates to BCM Steering Committee

  • Community outreach:

    • Promote the establishment of and manage reciprocal partnerships with youth music organizations, schools and nonprofits in MA

    • Communicate regularly with music organizations, schools and nonprofits

    • Work with BCM Steering Committee to develop monthly newsletters

    • Work with Berklee PULSE manager to publish META resources and news

    • Engage and communicate regularly with the META alumni community

  • Career Development Advisement and Fellow Support:

    • Advise and orient fellows regarding professional development opportunities

    • Establish rapport with and communicate regularly with fellows

    • Work individually with fellows to create a work plan to reach META personal goals

    • Provide feedback and recommend appropriate action

    • Ensure compliance with established program guidelines and procedures

Qualifications/Skills

  • Desire and ability to work with music educators and teaching artist with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience

  • Ability to organize tasks and manage time to meet deadlines

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders
