The Team
We are seeking a Manager, IT Backup and Storage to join American Tower’s Information Technology (“IT”) organization’s IT Backup and Storage team. The team delivers robust, scalable, and secure enterprise backup and storage solutions that support operational resilience and business continuity. Day to day you will design and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies, manage storage architectures, oversee integration with cloud platforms, and drive the performance, availability, and automation across backup and storage environments.
As Manager, IT Backup and Storage, you will provide technical expertise, oversee standards and best practices, guide innovation in storage and backup operations, and lead a team of engineers working to ensure secure, efficient, and high-performing infrastructure services.
What You Can Offer Us
- Design and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies using Commvault.
- Ensure the alignment of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies with business continuity and IT risk management goals.
- Architect and manage storage solutions using NetApp technologies.
- Oversee the integration of storage systems with Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (“AWS”) cloud platforms.
- Ensure the high availability, performance, and scalability of storage and backup environments.
- Develop and enforce storage policies, standards, and best practices.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to align storage strategies with business and IT goals.
- Monitor and optimize storage performance, capacity planning, and cost efficiency.
- Drive automation and innovation in storage operations.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and storage, backup, and cloud infrastructure trends.
- Lead the team’s talent selection, performance management, career development, and workforce planning.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Need to Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree required, with a concentration in Computer Science, IT, or a related field preferred.
- A minimum of 8 years of backup and storage administration experience, including a minimum of 3 years of leadership experience, required.
- Hands on NetApp storage systems and Commvault backup solutions experience.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Azure and AWS cloud platforms.
- Solid understanding of storage protocols, including Network File System, Common Internet File System, Internet Small Computer Systems Interface, and Fibre Channel.
- Experience with automation and scripting using PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
- NetApp Certified Implementation Engineer or NetApp Certified Data Administrator certification preferred.
- Commvault Certified Professional certification preferred.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Administrator Associate certification preferred.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional certification preferred.
- Strong organization, planning, and project management skills; ability to prioritize tasks for yourself and a team to meet requirements and deadlines.
- Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results.
- Strong leadership skills; ability to drive and motivate a team to achieve results.
