Mulesoft Integration Architect
Job Description
Job#: 3009388
Job Description:
MuleSoft Integration Architect – Apex Systems Mexico
(Hybrid requirment in Guadalajara, 3 days at the office per week)
Who We Are
Apex Systems is a global technology services firm delivering data, digital, and cloud solutions that enable enterprise transformation. Through our Mexico Delivery Center (MDC), we partner with global clients to design and implement high-performing integration ecosystems that connect critical business applications and data flows.
Position Overview
We are seeking a MuleSoft Integration Architect to lead the design, development, and governance of enterprise integration solutions using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform. This role will serve as the primary integration authority — defining architecture standards, managing API lifecycle governance, and ensuring technical consistency across business domains such as ERP, financial systems, and data platforms.
The ideal candidate is a MuleSoft expert with hands-on experience architecting large-scale integration landscapes, deep understanding of API-led connectivity, and a proven ability to mentor teams while engaging directly with business and technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the integration architecture strategy using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform (CloudHub, Runtime Fabric, API Manager).
- Lead the design and delivery of scalable, secure, and reusable integration frameworks across ERP, CRM, and data systems.
- Architect and guide the conversion of legacy SSIS, ActiveBatch, or custom integrations into modern MuleSoft solutions.
- Design and enforce API-led connectivity layers (System, Process, Experience APIs) following MuleSoft best practices.
- Collaborate with business and ERP teams (Oracle ERP, SQL Server) to define integration requirements, patterns, and governance.
- Define and document integration design standards, error-handling strategies, and naming conventions for global delivery teams.
- Provide technical oversight and code reviews for development teams (both onshore and offshore).
- Lead performance tuning, scalability assessments, and root-cause analysis for integration bottlenecks.
- Partner with Enterprise Architects to align MuleSoft solutions with the overall technology strategy.
- Champion continuous improvement and automation in CI/CD, observability, and testing processes for Mule APIs.
Required Qualifications
- 8–10+ years of experience in integration architecture, including 5+ years hands-on with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform.
- Proven success designing enterprise MuleSoft solutions using Mule 4+, Anypoint Studio, and DataWeave.
- Certified as a MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect (MCIA) – required.
- Deep understanding of API-led design principles, SOA, and event-driven architectures.
- Expertise with MuleSoft components: flows, connectors, sub-flows, RAML design, DataWeave transformations, and API Management.
- Experience deploying and managing integrations on CloudHub, Runtime Fabric, or hybrid Mule environments.
- Strong experience integrating with ERP (Oracle ERP, SAP), SQL Server, and cloud data systems.
- Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools (GitHub, CircleCI, Azure DevOps).
- Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and performance optimization in large-scale integration landscapes.
- English fluency (B2+/C1 level) with strong communication and documentation skills for client-facing roles.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Snowflake, SSIS, or Informatica Cloud integrations.
- Familiarity with API security frameworks, OAuth2, and OpenID Connect.
- Knowledge of event-driven integration (Kafka, Pub/Sub) and data streaming.
- Certifications such as MuleSoft Certified Platform Architect (MCPA) or AWS/Azure Cloud Architect a strong plus.
- Experience mentoring and leading global development teams across multiple time zones.
