Network Engineer provides critical services supporting Medline business operations across datacenter, edge, cloud, security, and application delivery. This role requires a solution-minded professional with deep enterprise networking expertise, strong cloud networking experience, and the ability to implement modern automation practices. Effective collaboration and communication are essential for aligning technical capabilities with business needs.

Job Description

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Respond to and resolve trouble tickets; work directly with end users and cross functional teams to drive timely closure.
  • Collaborate with Senior Network Engineers on strategies for network growth, datacenter modernization, and Azure/public cloud enhancements.
  • Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform for repeatable, consistent deployments.
  • Leverage Ansible for automation of configuration management, patching, and network orchestration.
  • Support, configure, and optimize Cloudflare services, including DNS, CDN, and DDoS protection.
  • Develop and document architecture diagrams, procedures, and operational runbooks.
  • Monitor and maintain enterprise networking infrastructure; configure alerts, provision new devices, and manage patching/code upgrades.
  • Provide network expertise and support across on-premises, datacenter, and public cloud environments.
  • Automate network operations to reduce cost, time, and human error.
  • Participate in off-hours support.
  • Stay current with networking, cloud, and security technology trends; incorporate them into engineering practices where appropriate.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Technical certifications: CCNA required; CCNP preferred.
  • Azure certifications or other public cloud certifications (AWS, GCP) highly desirable.

Work Experience

  • Previous 3-5 years of experience supporting Cisco networking technologies in large enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on experience of 3-5 years with Microsoft Azure networking or experience with another major public cloud platform required.
  • Experience with network automation and orchestration using Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools.
  • Experience with supporting SD-WAN (Cisco Viptela preferred) and/or SDN solutions (Cisco ACI a plus).
  • Familiar with disaster recovery planning and network resiliency.
  • Experience with TLS/SSL certificate management, including renewal processes, chain validation, and troubleshooting in platforms such as Sectigo and Cloudflare.
  • Experience with Cloudflare/CDN configuration such as bot management.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Knowledge of IP networking, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, VRF, etc.), and Cisco enterprise technologies.
  • Familiar with data center hardware, virtualization, and load balancing (F5 BigIP, Azure Load Balancer, NGINX).
  • Knowledge of Wi-Fi design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • Confident and capable in troubleshooting network related issues.
  • Strong understanding of DNS concepts and management.
  • Knowledge of ITSM/ITIL practices and industry best practices for infrastructure design and management.
  • Familiar with Jira and Confluence software.
  • Experience with Cisco DNAC is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in our Chicagoland facilities with hybrid schedule and up to 10% overnight travel.

The anticipated salary range for this position:

$96,200.00 - $144,560.00 Annual

The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.
