Summary

This position is located at the WhiterRiver Service Unit Located in Whiteriver, AZ. Serves as a specialist/integrator with the professional knowledge of a registered nurse in the implementation and ongoing support of multi-service clinical software applications used in the hospital and clinic setting for the Whiteriver Service Unit. Provides consultative and advisory services of multi-service applications that support the Indian Health Service.

Duties

  • Responsible for the implementation and support of multi-service software packages that automate the capture of clinical encounter information and its subsequent retrieval. The application coordinator manages the customization of the site parameters, table maintenance, technical settings, and addresses integration issues with other software packages.
  • Coordinates implementation of new software products obtained by the facility that cover these functions.
  • Develops implementation plans, project management plans, runs meetings, collects and reports data and reports as necessary.
  • Serves as liaison between service lines, clinics and departments concerning clinical, business and administrative processes.
  • Promotes an awareness of the importance of data validity, data quality and data security that supports and aligns with the agency's Information Technology policies and processes at the local service unit level. Coordinates or assists with efforts to correct deficiencies and errors that occur in the electronic record.
  • Coordinates and/or assists to provide EHR training to all departments and staff on current software applications, new features and insures training is scheduled for new users.
  • Organizes and/or provides training in standardized reports and in the creation of custom templates for reporting utilities. Acts as a resource in the best ways to view the automated data.
  • Works with various departments and their staff in the refining and evaluation of existing health- related software modules and programs.
  • Coordinates with Information Technology (IT) staff and other application coordinators to implement and upgrade integrated packages, resolve conflicts, provide secondary support on related software modules, and insure smooth operations in areas where package scope overlaps or is integrated with other services' functions.
  • Works with programmers in local testing of software, identifying software problems and requesting enhancements. Logs all problems,
  • referring those requiring a higher level of technical support to the appropriate person or team.
  • Working knowledge and experience of Indian Health Service Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS) and/or Veteran's Administration Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) clinical software applications preferred.

INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

NOTE:

Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the , , , or an accrediting body recognized by the at the time the degree was obtained.

Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.

Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the . In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Basic Requirements for the GS-11 (or equivalent) Grade Level
In addition to the above requirements, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field;
or

At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or master's degree from a professional nursing educational program.

Basic Requirements for the GS-12 (or equivalent) Grade Level

In addition to the mandatory license and education described above under Basic Requirements applicants must have at least one or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level.

In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:GS-11: At least one (1) full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or master's degree from a professional nursing educational program. Examples include: one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or master's degree from a professional nursing educational program. Examples Include: Assists in development of implementation plans, project management plans, co-manages meetings, collects and reports data and reports as necessary. Serves as liaison between service lines, clinics and departments concerning clinical, business and administrative processes. Coordinates and/or assists to provide EHR training to all departments and staff on current software applications, new features and insures training is scheduled for new users. Emphasizes timeliness, accuracy, completeness, security, quality and the importance of these functions for clinical and business purposes. Organizes and/or provides training in standardized reports and in the creation of custom templates for reporting utilities. Coordinates with Information Technology (IT) staff and other application coordinators to implement and upgrade integrated packages, resolve conflicts, provide secondary support on related software modules, and insure smooth operations in areas where package scope overlaps or is integrated with other services' functions. Works with department chiefs, clinical leaders and staff providing consultation on integration of information systems implementation with clinical


GS-12: At least one (1) full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-11 grade level) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or master's degree from a professional nursing educational program. Examples include: I have 1 year of specialized experience that has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This specialized experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples Include: coordinates implementation of new software products obtained by the facility that cover these functions. Develops implementation plans, project management plans, runs meetings, collects and reports data and reports as necessary. Analyzes and evaluates processes related to information flow. Serves as liaison between service lines, clinics and departments concerning clinical, business and administrative processes. Serves on medical center teams, wherever and whenever management determines the skills and talents of the incumbent would be best utilized. Coordinates and/or assists to provide EHR training to all departments and staff on current software applications, new features and insures training is scheduled for new users. Organizes and/or provides training in standardized reports and in the creation of custom templates for reporting utilities. Works with programmers in local testing of software, identifying software problems and requesting enhancements.
