Nurse Practitioner - Cardiology, Tysons

Job Description

Job Summary:
To provide direct care to patients, under the supervision of a physician. This position is administratively supervised by the Clinical Coordinator or designee.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assesses clinical, emotional, and educational health needs of patients.

  • Assesses health needs of patients, including physical assessment.

  • Collaborates with physicians plans of care and assures appropriate follow-up including telephone contact, home evaluations and hospital rounds.

  • Collaborates with the physician and other clinical staff members to maintain continuity of care.

  • Provides ongoing emotional support of the patient and his/her family both in formal groups and at each patient encounter.

  • Participates in research activities.

  • Facilitates referrals to appropriate community agencies including hospitals.

  • Participates in patient education activities.

  • Participates in orientation and education of nursing and support staff, and nursing and other students.

  • Collaborates with physicians in developing and periodically reviewing protocols relevant to department functioning.

  • Participates in planning for team functioning in delivering the total range of health services.

  • Participates in monitoring quality of care according to professional standards and established criteria.

  • Knows limits of practice and provides appropriate referrals.

  • Carries out clinical and administrative procedures that may be promulgated by the Health Plan.

  • Performs other related duties as directed.

Basic Qualifications:Experience
  • Minimum one (1) year of primary care experience is required.
Education
  • Masters degree in Nursing required.
  • Graduation from a NLN accredited NP program.
License, Certification, Registration
  • This job requires credentials from multiple states. Credentials from the primary work state are required at hire. Additional Credentials from the secondary work state(s) are required post hire.

  • Registered Nurse License (Maryland) within 6 months of hire AND Registered Nurse License (Virginia) within 6 months of hire

OR

  • Compact License: Registered Nurse within 6 months of hire

  • Nurse Practitioner License (Virginia) within 6 months of hire

  • Certified Nurse Practitioner Certificate (District of Columbia) within 6 months of hire

  • Nurse Practitioner Certificate (Maryland) within 6 months of hire

  • Registered Nurse License (District of Columbia) within 6 months of hire

  • Nurse Practitioner National Certificate

  • National Provider Identifier
Additional Requirements:
  • Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years of primary care experience is preferred.
  • Experience in electrophysiology strongly preferred.
