Occupational Therapist (Temporary, Full Time))
Job Description
Assists with planning, coordinating, implementing and directing Occupational Therapy services for inpatients and outpatients. Evaluates patients referred for Occupational Therapy service. Develops and implements appropriate treatment plans based on evaluation.
Essential Responsibilities:- Assists in planning, development and implementation of full array of occupational therapy services.
- Assists in developing, initiating and providing in-service training to other professionals and nursing staff, including residents and students.
- Works with other healthcare professionals to create comprehensive approach to evaluation and recommendation of developmental and psychosocial problems of inpatients referred for care.
- Recommends equipment and supply requirements.
- Participates in departmental quality assurance program.
- Provides evaluation of upper extremity muscle function and strength, joint motion and function, nerve function, A.D.L. skills, sensory motor integration evaluation, psychosocial development, levels of motor development and reflex function when requested by attending physician for both inpatients and outpatients.
- Administers occupational therapy treatments based on neurophysiological principles and habilitation and rehabilitation techniques, which might include neurodevelopmental therapy, therapeutic exercises, neuromuscular facilitation, muscle reeducation, sensory motor training, and activities of daily living.
- Maintains clinical records of all patient care activities.
- Writes report of initial assessment of each patient and develops objectives and treatment plans for each patient. Plans according to patients level of functioning.
- Participates in family conferences to facilitate understanding of patient treatment goals and support family in their participation with patients care. Provides orientation of Occupational Therapy Services for families and visitors as needed.
- Participates in discharge planning and assists in making referrals to community agencies. Documents discharge plans and communicates to appropriate parties.
- Educates patients about their disabilities and provides instructions or follow-up program.
- Coordinates to assure adaptability of occupational roles in home, work, play and when appropriate, Provides site visits.
- Demonstrates working knowledge and appropriate application of CPT-4 codes for all services provided. Keeps abreast of coding modifications and/or definitions.
Basic Qualifications:Experience
- N/A
- Bachelors degree in occupational therapy approved by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of AMA, OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy Occupational Therapist Certificate required at hire OR American Occupational Therapy Association Occupational Therapist Certificate required at hire
Occupational Therapist License (Hawaii) required at hire
Basic Life Support required at hire from American Heart Association
- National Provider Identifier required at hire
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in adaptability, conflict resolution, creativity/innovation, decision making, customer service, group process facilitation, influence/negotiation, interpersonal relations, oral communication, problem solving, systems thinking, teamwork, and written communication.
- Taxonomy code required at time of hire / transfer.
- Minimum two (2) years of working in acute care and/or physical rehabilitation setting.
- Experience with Industrial and post-op hand surgery patients.
