English is one of the largest majors at Bridgewater State University and one of the most vibrant departments. With twenty-five full-time and many more part-time faculty, we offer a rich array of courses and programs designed to give our students broad introductions to the craft of writing and the study of literature, along with many opportunities for in-depth study. English is a diverse and dynamic field, and our faculty bring their expertise and enthusiasm to everything from Beowulf to the Beat poets; from creative non-fiction to the teaching of writing; and from contemporary film to literature from around the world.The University

Essential Duties
The Department of English at Bridgewater State University seeks qualified Part Time Faculty who are enthusiastic teachers and dedicated to working with undergraduates for the 2025/2026 academic year. Candidates must demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of students from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of abilities. Candidates must be available to teach in-person, on campus.Courses include but are not limited to first-year writing.

The current salary rate for a typical 3 credit lecture course taught by a new part-time faculty member in the day program is $4,005.00, paid through bi-weekly payroll direct deposit.
