The Department of History at Bridgewater State University trains students to engage in a sustained investigation of the record of humanity's existence. Its faculty represent a wide range of specializations in United States and European history, as well as the history of societies in Africa, East Asia, Canada, Latin America, and the Middle East.History students acquire skills in collecting, synthesizing, and evaluating information from diverse sources, as well as presenting it in support of a coherent interpretation of the past. The unique combination of content knowledge and skills represented in the discipline of history allows students to develop a sophisticated understanding of human nature and human potential.
Successful candidates will be staff members who can work with their colleagues to help meet the mission of the department in serving and supporting our racially and ethnically diverse campus community.

Essential Duties
The Department of History seeks highly qualified and committed part time faculty members to teach lower division courses for the Spring 2026 semester. Course offerings may include US history, European history and/or world history.Courses taught include: HIST 221 (US to 1865; 2 sections on TR), and a HIST 132 (World since 1500; one section on MW).
Applicants should possess:
- Ability to effectively teach in a close, collegial environment dedicated to the teaching-learning relationship.
- Strong commit to excellence in teaching and to working in a multicultural environment that fosters diversity.
- Ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning.
- Provide quality teaching including related preparation and grading.
- Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes and to the department office as requested.
- Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in a related field required.Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. preferred.Teaching experience preferred.
