Job Description
The Payroll and Benefits Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of payroll and employee benefits administration for the LPGA and its subsidiaries.
This role ensures employees are paid accurately and have access to competitive benefits, contributing to positive employee experience and organizational compliance. Responsibilities include managing bi-weekly multi-state payroll; coordinating payroll for Korea and Singapore employees with payroll vendors; administering health and welfare programs, retirement plans, and leave policies; and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations. The position reports to the VP of Talent Management and partners closely with Finance, People and Culture, and external vendors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Payroll Responsibilities
• Process bi-weekly multi-state, multi-jurisdiction payroll using UKG Ready; ensure accuracy of HRIS data, G/L entries, reconciliations, and labor distribution reporting.
• Manage relationships and process of third-party vendors to coordinate Asia payroll.
• Review and verify timecards, wage computations, sales incentives, bonuses, and tax withholdings for accuracy and compliance.
• Process garnishments, tax levies, and other withholdings; calculate relocation and fringe benefit taxes; maintain organized payroll records.
• Review and verify employee deductions and withholdings for accuracy within UKG Ready HRIS System.
• Establish and maintain state and local payroll tax registrations to ensure that employee’s state and local tax withholdings are withheld at the correct tax rate and remitted timely
• Work directly with Finance to reconcile monthly payroll and benefits related accruals.
• Review quarterly and annual payroll tax filings, W-2s, and ACA reporting for accuracy and timeliness.
• Conduct regular payroll audits and generate reports including overtime, accrual balances, and staffing data.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve payroll-related issues with vendors and employees.
Benefits Responsibilities
• Administer employee benefit programs including Medical/Dental/Vision, Life, Disability, AD and D, 401(k), FSAs, HSAs, COBRA, and Worker’s Compensation.
• Coordinate open enrollment, benefit renewals, and vendor data integrations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Communicate benefit information to employees and support onboarding and enrollment training.
• Reconcile the monthly benefit invoices to enrollment records within UKG Ready to ensure that the organization is invoiced correctly and employees have proper deductions. Resolve any billing discrepancies accurately and timely.
• Prepare and submit compliance filings such as Form 5500, ACA, and EEO reports; support audits for 401(k) and Worker’s Compensation.
• Manage employee leaves of absence in compliance with FMLA and other regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience multi-state payroll processing experience in an organization of 300+ employees preferred
• At least three (3) years of experience administering health and welfare plans, including ACA compliance, 401(k) administration, HSAs, FSAs, COBRA, and Worker’s Compensation.
• Strong knowledge of UKG Ready (or similar HRIS/payroll system) preferred.
• CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) certification preferred; CPP, FCP, or CEB certifications are a plus.
• Advanced analytical, mathematical, and Excel/reporting skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proven ability to manage confidential information and sensitive matters with professionalism, diplomacy, and discretion.
• Proven ability to negotiate and manage vendor relationships.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, combined with strong customer service orientation and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Builds trust and communicates clearly with employees and vendors to resolve payroll and benefits inquiries with empathy and professionalism.
• Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.
