The Oregon Lottery is hiring one (1) Payroll Specialist to join the Finance and Accounting team in a hybrid position. This position will be required to be on site to work with the Finance and Accounting team approximately one day per week and as needed for off-cycle payments.

About the Role
You will report to the Manager, Accounting and work closely with teams across the organization to keep our payroll processes running smoothly and efficiently. In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring every employee receives accurate, timely pay while maintaining clear and compliant payroll records. You’ll provide responsive, people‑centered support to employees, managers, and external partners on a variety of payroll matters, helping them navigate questions with confidence.
You Will

- Prepare and process payroll, including validation of time entries, coordination with managers, and payroll system setup.
- Respond to payroll‑related inquiries from employees, managers, vendors, and third parties, including employment verification and PERS requests.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws across multiple states.
- Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure updates and benefits are entered. Prepare off‑cycle paychecks for separated employees.
- Prepare and reconcile reports reflecting employee payment information with checks issued for payments made to the Department of Revenue, the Internal Revenue Service, Child Support Enforcement, Bankruptcy Court, and other entities to ensure accuracy.
- Process payments for payroll vendors in a timely manner, including providing accurate reports.
- Perform complex payroll calculations and compliance activities, including retroactive payments, benefits adjustments, payroll corrections, reconciliations, and multi‑state payroll tax research and setup.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to support smooth payroll operations and ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.
You Have:
- Associate's Degree and three (3) years of experience in payroll processing, multi-state payroll, payroll tax reporting and reconciliation; OR
- Five (5) years of experience in payroll processing, multi-state payroll, payroll tax reporting and reconciliation.
