Job Description
Provides multi-task assistance in the Perioperative area including transportation of patients, equipment, specimens; documenting in logs, cleaning operating rooms post surgerypost-surgery; stocking supplies as needed; ordering equipment repairs; cleaning equipment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Transportation
- Transport pre-operative and post-operative patients and their belongings within the medical center complex as
- needed by gurney, wheel chairs or floor beds.
- Provide assistance to clinical staff in transfer of patients between Operating Room Table, and be or gurney as
- needed.
- Assist physician and/or other hospital personnel in positioning, prepping and draping patients as directed.
- Deliver paperwork as needed throughout medical center.
- Transport Operating Room Case Carts from clean lift to hall outside assigned Operating Room.
- Send used equipment and supplies to Sterile Processing Department.
- Transport equipment needing repair to appropriate departments.
- Transport specimens to and from lab and maintain appropriate logs.
- Transport X-rays as needed between departments.
- Transports equipment and supplies throughout medical center as needed for Perioperative patients.
- Cleaning
- Clean storage shelves per protocol.
- Clean all used Operating Rooms between cases according to standard procedures.
- Clean all wheel chairs, recovery chairs and gurneys per cleaning protocol.
- Regularly maintain and clean restricted and semi-restricted corridor areas, scrub sink areas, OR lounges, kitchens
- and dressing rooms according to standard procedures.
- Clean used equipment throughout Perioperative areas according to standard procedures.
- Stocking
- Assist surgical teams with Operating Room turnovers.
- Under direction of surgical teams, obtain unanticipated supplies and instruments for cases in progress.
- Stock supplies throughout Perioperative services as needed.
- Make rounds in each room and remove and put away equipment and supplies as directed.
- Other
- Assure Same Date Admission Unit (SDA) and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) areas are maintained and ready for patients.
- Photocopy paperwork as required.
- Notify appropriate person for needed equipment repairs.
- After cleaning gurney, beds and cribs, prepare with appropriate linens for patients use.
- Promotes, ensures, and improves customer service to internal/external customers by demonstrating skills which are
- consistent with the organizations philosophy of providing extraordinary customer relations and quality service.
- Performs other duties as needed.
- Consistently supports compliance and the Principles of Responsibility (Kaiser Permanentes Code of Conduct) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licensure requirements (if applicable) and Kaiser Permanentes policies and procedures.
- One year experience in a health care environment or a recent graduate (within one year) of a health care career program.

- Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance and push/pull a gurney with a patient on it.
- Must have basic computer knowledge and the ability to use bar code scanning equipment.
- Must successfully complete Functional Capacity Test (includes ability to lift 50lbs) prior to final awarding of position.
