The Manufacturing Engineer position reports directly to the functional area manager in Orlando, FL within the OCC that focuses on the photolithography process and thin film coating of optics. We work with small-scale challenges that will make a significant impact to the customer. We design, develop, and support the production life-cycle of electromagnetic grids and thin film coatings for various optical systems. It is our responsibility to evaluate and measure the performance of the resulting grids and coatings. If you enjoy understanding how a production process influences an end product, fast-paced work environment and learning new skills, this opportunity will be an exciting role for you!

The responsibilities include but not limited to:

Support manufacturing processes of optics, with an emphasis on the metrology of photolithography and thin film coatings. This includes measuring the spectral performance, thicknesses, and characterizing the structure of the deposited coatings.

Provide technical guidance to operators and effectively communicate the processes in work instructions. Develop and manage work instructions.

Apply lean manufacturing techniques and be expected to support Kaizen/SIA events as a team member.

Investigate defective hardware and provide next steps to get the hardware back into production and implement corrective actions that will prevent defect from occurring.

Perform tasks associated with non-recurring efforts or "walk-in" metrology requests.

Participate in research and development.

Drive the adoption of new technologies (capital investments, automation, robotics) to improve efficiency and quality.

Individuals with a strong desire to learn are highly encouraged to apply. If needed, there is an opportunity to be trained.

This position is for first shift, Monday to Thursday (4/10A) or Tuesday to Friday (4/10B) - depends on business needs at the time of hiring.
