Job Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Selecting and positioning dies and punches in the bed and ram of press
  • Programming stops on machine and repositioning stock to run through steps required to form parts to completion
  • Verifying dimensions of work piece
  • Performing First Piece Inspection as required
  • Manually programming controller to required specifications
  • Must have previous experience operating press machines

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understanding of lock out/tag out procedures and ability to use when appropriate
  • Maintain a high level of productivity and quality
  • Follow work center procedures as defined
  • Must be able to understand and follow instructions given in job routers
  • Document and notify Quality of any discrepancies and/or nonconformance's
  • Note any changes and/or recommendations that are needed for future production runs
  • Inspect finished products and parts by comparing them with blueprints and boundary samples
  • Ability to use grinders and other hand tools as necessary

 EDUCATION, SKILLS, & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent G.E.D.
  • Certificate from technical school and/or six months related experience
  • Math Skills: Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division; use of a calculator) will help Press Brake Operators understand instructions, how plans work and make sure items are cut, bent, and formed correctly.
  • Measuring Tool Usage: The use of measuring equipment such as scales, calipers and protractors as necessary to make sure quality specifications are achieved.
  • Problem Solving Skills: Press Brake Operators will need to know when machines are not performing correctly, alert supervision to problems they are experiencing. 
  • Attention to Detail: Being observant and sage is critical to the overall well-being of the employee and his/her co-workers. In addition, Press Brake Operators must take great care in their work.
  • Stamina: Press Brake Operators work doing repetitive movement.

 WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance, and stand for long periods of time
  • Maintain a safe work area
  • Keep work area clean and organized
  • Must be a team player
  • Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
