Job Title Principal Data Modeler

The Role
FFIO (Fidelity Funds & Investment Operations) is actively seeking an experienced data modeler to help us deliver our next generation data models supporting evolving alternate investments business needs. You will be responsible for creating conceptual, logical and physical models, collaborating closely with business and engineering partners to drive scalable database designs that will enhance FFIO time to market.

  • Deliver data modeling solutions for FFIO business and technology functions by partnering with business teams, functional architects, and other technical resources

  • Inventory, develop, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models

  • Gather and analyze business data requirements to deliver well architected physical database structures

  • Identify business critical gaps and discrepancies in database design and actively propose and implement remediation tactics.

  • Define, champion, and govern data modeling standards and practices

  • Manage organizational data model blueprint to provide reference and framework to the systems development efforts.

  • Foster effective relationships with product managers, and technical leads

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in a related technology field

  • Strong understanding and experience with relational data modeling (Conceptual, Logical, & Physical)

  • Hands on experience with data modeling tools such as Power Designer, Erwin, or ERStudio

  • Solid understanding of principles, standard methodologies, best practices around data modeling/architecture

  • Ability to write SQL to query and analyze data

  • Financial investments domain experience and knowledge is preferred

  • Results oriented with demonstrable ability to work independently

  • Good analytical and interpersonal skills with ability to explain data structures to a non-technical audience

  • General working knowledge of Cloud (AWS), Relational, NoSQL and Big Data technologies, techniques, and trends

  • Experience with data governance and metadata management practices a plus.

The Team
The FFIO data modeling team partners with the project teams to deliver practical & resilient data model and database designs that meet business needs while adhering to key standards and methodologies. As part of the team, you will drive adoption of enterprise and standard methodologies, and promote changes in process, standards, or technologies when necessary.
