Principal/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer (Software)
Job Description
Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer or a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to support a program out of our Aurora, CO location.
What You'll get to Do:
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. Maintain existing operations procedures up-to-date to also include lessons learned from real-time performance. Develop new procedures as required. Interface with program and customer personnel. The selected candidate should have a strong understanding of software development.

This requisition may be filled as either a Principal or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer.
Basic Qualifications for a Principal Systems Engineer:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or other STEM related degree with 5 years of relevant experience; 3 years of relevant experience with a Master's; 0 years of relevant experience with a PhD.
• Must have an active Top Secret/SCI clearance at the time of application and willingness to sit for a polygraph
• Ability to decompose requirements and understanding impacts to current software architecture
• Ability to create/decompose new software requirements
• Ability to partner with Integrated Product Team (IPT) to ensure alignment between design engineering and common software.
• Demonstrated software design experience beyond novice familiarity

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or other STEM related degree with 8 years of relevant experience; 6 years of relevant experience with a Master's; 4 years of relevant experience with a PhD.
• Must have an active Top Secret/SCI clearance at the time of application and willingness to sit for a polygraph
• Ability to decompose requirements and understanding impacts to current software architecture
• Ability to create/decompose new software requirements
• Ability to partner with Integrated Product Team (IPT) to ensure alignment between design engineering and common software.
• Demonstrated software design experience beyond novice familiarity
Preferred Qualifications:
• Active TS/SCI with poly
• Experience with Model Base Systems Engineering (MBSE) and CAMEO tools
