Privacy Specialist I (Remote)

PURPOSE: 
The Privacy Specialist will assist Privacy Management with the development, implementation, and ongoing management of CareFirst's privacy program. The Privacy Specialist will interact with all levels of the organization and function as an integral team member in advancing the overall security, privacy and compliance program with respect to privacy-related policies, procedures, operational workflows, laws and regulations. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs administrative work associated with protected health information requests.

  • Collaboration with legal counsel and management, key departments, and committees to ensure organization has and maintains appropriate privacy and confidentiality consent, authorization forms, and information notices and materials reflecting current organization and legal practices and requirements.

  • Implement privacy & compliance procedures providing oral and written responses to privacy questions based on privacy regulations.

  • Provides guidance with regards to privacy procedures and handling of protected health information.



QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level: Associate's Degree

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with HIPAA and/or highly sensitive legislative and/or congressional issues management. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Excellent writing, grammatical and editing skills required.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.




Salary Range: $53,640 - $98,340

This compensation range is specific and considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, internal peer equity, and market and business consideration. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range, as compensation decisions depend on each case's facts and circumstances, including but not limited to experience, internal equity, and location.
