Private Wealth Management Client Service Officer

Plainview, NY
Full-Time

Job Description

PWM Client Service Officer

CFP® Required  •  Wealth Management & Financial Planning  •  Mid-Level •  Full-Time

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a seasoned, self-directed financial professional to join our Wealth Management and Financial Planning team as a Client Service Officer. You bring a CFP® designation, meaningful experience, and — just as importantly — the kind of maturity and judgment that sophisticated clients naturally trust.

Our clients are accomplished, discerning, and expect their advisor to arrive prepared, think independently, and bring thoughtful perspective without being prompted. This role is built for someone who thrives in that environment — someone who can walk into a complex situation, earn a client’s confidence quickly, and know what to do next without waiting to be told.

You will work closely alongside our Client Experience, Investment and Operations teams while carrying hands on planning and management responsibilities of your own. Whether you come from traditional financial advisory, banking, or consulting, what matters most is that you bring depth, drive, and genuine care for the people you serve.

OUR CULTURE

We have built something a little different here. Wealth management has traditionally been designed around a narrow slice of the population — and we think that is a problem worth solving. Our practice is grounded in long-term relationships, values-driven planning, and the belief that good financial guidance should be accessible to people at every stage of building a life, not just those who have already arrived.

Day to day, that means a team that operates with a high degree of trust and autonomy. We do not micromanage. We hire people who take ownership, communicate proactively, and hold themselves accountable — and then we get out of their way. If you do your best work when you have the room to think and act independently, this is that kind of place.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Client Relationships

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with high net worth and ultra high net worth clients —approaching each one as a long-term partnership, not a transaction
  • Lead client meetings and follow-up with the preparation and polish that high-net-worth clients expect
  • Develop a deep understanding of each client’s full financial picture — income, expenses, assets, liabilities, goals, and values
  • Respond to client inquiries and complex questions with clarity, confidence, and care
  • Anticipate client needs rather than simply reacting to them

Planning & Advisory

  • Take an active, independent role in financial planning and investment advisory across a diverse, sophisticated client base
  • Work with outside professionals to contribute meaningfully to retirement planning, tax strategy, insurance advisory, and trust and estate planning
  • Prepare portfolio reviews, investment analyses, and performance reports that are clear, accurate, and client-ready
  • Use proprietary models and planning tools to craft strategies that genuinely reflect each client’s life and legacy
  • Support philanthropic advisory and planned giving work, including for foundations and endowments

Independent Problem-Solving & Collaboration

  • Identify issues before they surface — and bring well-considered solutions when they do
  • Coordinate effectively with accountants, trust and estate attorneys, bankers, and other external professionals
  • Manage your own workload and client relationships with minimal oversight, keeping senior teammates informed without needing to be managed
  • Keep CRM systems current and thorough — good records are how we serve clients well across time and transitions
  • Contribute to process improvements, ESG/SRI/Impact investing initiatives, and broader practice development

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Required

  • CFP® designation — a non-negotiable reflection of the standard we hold for our clients
  • 5+ years of experience in financial advisory, banking, consulting, or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated comfort working with high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth clients ($3M+ in investable assets)
  • Series 65 or 66 license, or the ability to obtain within 3 months
  • A bachelor’s degree in any discipline
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving instincts — you connect dots and find paths forward
  • Clear, confident communication — written and verbal — with clients and colleagues alike
  • High integrity and a natural, unforced commitment to doing right by clients and compliance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred

  • Background in consulting, public accounting, or banking — these develop exactly the rigor and client instincts we value
  • Familiarity with CRM tools (Salesforce), planning software (eMoney), investment platforms (Fidelity, Pershing, Schwab), or portfolio tools (Addepar, Morningstar)
  • Experience with philanthropic, foundation, or non-profit clients
  • Knowledge of or genuine interest in Socially Responsible and Impact investing
  • A personal connection to the communities your clients come from — lived experience is a form of expertise

WHO THRIVES HERE

The credential gets you in the door. What keeps you here — and makes you exceptional at this work — is something harder to quantify. We are looking for someone who:

  • Carries themselves with maturity and steadiness, especially in high-stakes or ambiguous situations
  • Builds trust naturally — with clients, colleagues, and partners — through consistency and genuine care
  • Sees problems as puzzles worth solving rather than obstacles to hand off
  • Takes ownership fully: asks good questions early, then executes independently
  • Brings humility and a growth mindset to the work, no matter how experienced they are
  • Cares about why this work matters — and can articulate it

HOW TO APPLY

We would love to hear from you. Please send your resume and a short cover letter — not a formal essay, just a note about your approach to client relationships and what drew you to this kind of work. We review applications on a rolling basis.

We are an equal opportunity employer. We actively welcome candidates from all backgrounds and believe the financial planning profession is stronger — and more useful — when it reflects the full range of people it serves.
