Project Coordinator (E3-6) – Transmission Project Management Organization (PMO)
JOB SUMMARY
The Project Coordinator – Communication develops and delivers targeted communication strategies that keep stakeholders informed about PMO-managed projects, new initiatives, and strategic priorities. This role ensures clarity and transparency across the Transmission PMO, partner organizations, and senior leadership by translating complex project management and control concepts into actionable insights. Success requires strong collaboration, working knowledge of PMO projects and project controls strategies, and the ability to produce clear, impactful communication across multiple platforms.
One position will report to the Customer Choice Manager, and one position will report to the System Project Manager within Transmission PMO.
This position is located at 241 Ralph McGill Blvd in Atlanta, GA and is a hybrid role with four days in the office and one day remote.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive communications plans for Customer Choice, System Projects, and Project Controls aligned with integrated schedules, stage-gate milestone, and governance requirements.
- Coordinate milestone-based communications to highlight achievements, communicate critical path changes, and support partner liaison initiatives; collaborate with Stakeholder Engagement and Corporate Communications for internal and external press releases when appropriate.
- Tailor messaging by audience and leadership level defining what, when, and how information is communicated to ensure clarity and impact.
- Create and maintain standardized communication templates and tools (emails, dashboards, presentations, stakeholder briefings, one-pagers, FAQs, risk notices, etc.) to drive consistency and scalability across PMO projects.
- Build and manage a content calendar aligned with stage gates, major milestones, and governance reviews; establish approval workflows and version control for all communications.
- Ensure communications align with PMO governance standards and audit requirements, maintaining artifacts in designated repositories and updating stakeholder maps and distribution lists
- Translate complex data into actionable insights, including risk register summaries (probability, impact, mitigations), schedule health (RAG status), and escalation paths for leadership communication.
- Produce executive-ready deliverables such as one-pagers, dashboards, slide decks, talking points, and intranet updates; apply plain-language principles to technical content.
- Partner with Project Managers, Schedulers, Cost Analyst, and Change Management to gather accurate data for communications including schedule status, milestone attainment, risks/issues, budget/forecast highlights, and change control outcomes.
- Collaborate with Stakeholder Engagement on internal and external communications and initiatives, leveraging PMO expertise to tailor messaging the supports Georgia Power’s branding and strategic objectives.
- Monitor and improve communication effectiveness through KPIs such as on-time delivery, leadership satisfaction, accuracy, risk response time, and engagement rates.
- Coordinate leadership update cadence and stakeholder meetings, ensuring decision, action items, and follow-ups are reflected in communications.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Educational/Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business, Project Management, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum of three years of experience in project communications, project management, or technical communications
- Electric Utility experience strongly preferred
- Experience with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project (ability to read and interpret schedules) strongly preferred
- Familiarity with risk registers a plus
- Understanding of project life cycle and stage-gate governance is a plus
- Exposure to change management framework (e.g., ADKAR) and executive communications
- Working knowledge of Adobe Create Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign) or equivalent for higher-fidelity one-pagers/infographics a plus

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to craft, concise messaging for diverse audiences, including senior leadership
- Ability to understand technical concepts and simplify complex concepts for non-technical audiences
